It’s hard to believe just five years ago this duck-killing corn impoundment was a hay meadow. Carter's Big Island Hunt Club owner, Roy Carter had been eyeing this property since he was 5 years old. Once the owners got to the point where they were willing to sell, he promptly purchased it, and they executed a vision. This property had an excellent flight line off a bend in the river that the birds cut across, so they moved some dirt, added some water, sank a massive pit, and believed they could pull them with big spreads and loud calling. We got to enjoy the fruits of their labor this morning as we worked in trafficking ducks from the heavens. It was a slow-burn morning, but with an incredible blind breakfast cooked by duck calling 🐐 Trey Crawford, we were in it for the long haul. Around 2:30 pm, we worked in a really nice group to put a bow on this incredible hunt.
