Hunting in fog can be really good or really tough, what are your thoughts?

Surviving Duck Season, it’s not so much fog that kills me but the ice. I living up in Idaho up in the middle. We get snow/ice in October...

@@trex9166 Guys in the north usually don't like the snow and ice. A lot of guys in the south welcome it. It means different things depending where you are.

Normally for us fog in the morning slows things down. But when it lifts the hunting is normally amazing.

When hunting a refuge where you have open area next to closed zones fog is awesome. When hunting potholes or fields where the ducks being confused is not helpful, fog sucks

Seeing massive amounts of ducks is certainly something that most don't get to experience very often. There are several parts of North America that it happens more often for sure. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching!

Hunted when it was just like that, probably just there or close by that spot, and you do want to just watch as thousands come in. Everybody should experience a day like that.

I’ve not been waterfowl hunting terribly long, (started in 2003) but I’ve only had 1 good hunt in fog. Foggy days usually end up being bad hunts

One of my hunting partners and I sat in a ditch and had about 2,000 mostly specks drop in on top of us. We sat there for at least 15 minutes just watching the show. They finally got spooked by something and got up. It was an amazing sight to be in the middle of.

If you ever get into iowa would just like to watch you hunt. You guys keep your cool don't let your excitement get to you like other guys out there .iv seen alot of videos where they get into a big hurry just to kill.you wait for all right shots.you also take turn shooting when needed you just do it spot no. Can't say enough about the way you hunt birds. True great.

Had a teal hunt like that. At 5 min before shooting light there were easily 100 birds in the decoys. Shooting time hit and the thickest pea soup fog I have ever seen rolled in. Couldn't even see the decoys anymore (which were no more than 15 yards away). Could just hear the wings and the splashing of them landing. Fog stuck around till like 830. We ended up with 12 birds that day between the 3 of us. Can't shoot what you can't see.

Was that corn even harvested? Looks like it was just knocked over so the ducks could eat it.
@SurvivingDuckSeason
@SurvivingDuckSeason 4 жыл бұрын
Of course it was harvested. Manipulating planted crops without harvesting would be illegal. It was harvested the day before we hunted. The farmer had not rolled, cut or disked the stubble yet.

Had to subscribe when you guys don't shoot in the big groups like other peaple would do that's not hunting when you shoot in groups of birds to me that just killing.who ever is saying no to these guys are not hunters just killers .God bless stay safe.
@SurvivingDuckSeason
@SurvivingDuckSeason 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Eric for your comments! For me it's about the experience of a close encounter... taking shots and make em count! Flock shooting into a mass of birds just educates too many birds and ruins them for later... and for what we do for content on KZfaq it doesn't make as good of video as smaller bunches in tight... or even singles and pairs.

Why is it not intelligent to shoot into alot of birds
@JP-nb5eq
@JP-nb5eq 4 жыл бұрын
Alecia Ross if you leave the big groups alone, there’s a chance they will continue to use the field. So In theory you shoot at the smaller groups, and then the ducks that came in the bigger groups could be hunted another day
@naimliss4488
@naimliss4488 4 жыл бұрын
Because when you shoot into large groups of birds you could shoot way too many for your limit, as well as educating a mass of birds, thus making them smarter and harder to hunt later on.
