Input: red crank rotating regularly.
The slider crank mechanism (red crank, green conrod, orange slider) causes the linear reciprocating motion of the duckling. The chain drive helps the mechanism overcome unstable positions. For more about this mechanism see:

No. The acceleration of the linear motion of the duckling is not constant. The movement of the duckling is the movement of the slider in the slider-crank linkage mechanism.
