@alexwinter3272 Not entirely true. Remember what happened in the Vegas Vs San Jose series back in 2019 over that horrific 5 minute major call they made next thing those refs got punished for rest of the playoffs for that year to the point the League had to apologize.

In 15 years of watching hockey this may be the WORST interference call I’ve ever seen. And then to penalize the coach for raising his voice is just utterly absurd. I know you can see he said “you” instead of “off” which is a no no but I’ve seen plenty of coaches go absolutely ballistic with no consequence. Disgusting display my god.

Wow what an awful call lol. Ducks player obviously didn't touch the goalie and he barely nudged the penguin defenceman, and even if he did push the defenceman, it did not result in the penguin defenceman hindering his own goalie enough to prevent him from making a save.......really really bad call, but I'm glad the ducks won the game anyways and by a very late 3rd period goal to boot too, so the good karma was well deserved for ducks.

I am a goalie and the NHL can't call consistent goalie interference. This should be a goal. The shot came from the same side the goalie was already at. It's not like he got blocked trying to T push to the other side of the post.

What accountability are you referring to? Yelling F*ck you at a ref is a clear violation, and a minor penalty shall be imposed for unsportsmanlike. Or are you referring to the goaltender interference? I do agree that was a super soft call; however, the rules do say that if you push, penalize the defending player which results in contact with the goalie, it’s going to be deemed as if the attacking player made contact. So technically by the rules that is goaltender interference. But definitely one of the softest calls I have seen in a while.

@@drexxler138 If we want to go with "Well technically TECHNICALLY it could possibly maybe be considered a soft penalty" then we'd spend entire games on the power play. I still maintain this doesn't qualify as a penalty but even if it did, they'd be calling penalties left and right if this is how low the bar is set.

The ducks player is so far into the crease that he doesn’t have a full range of motion It’s a form of interference… you’re not supposed to be that far into the crease of your opposing teams goalie. You can see at one point that the ref was literally telling him to get out of the blue. You don’t necessarily have to touch the goalie for it to be interference… You just have to restrict him enough that he can’t have his full range of motion. The blue crease is the goalie “safe space” so to speak. It’s not called as much as contact interference… but according to the rule book that does count as interference

Its pretty clear in the rulebook - "If a defending player has been pushed, shoved, or fouled by an attacking player so as to cause the defending player to come into contact with his own goalkeeper, such contact shall be deemed contact initiated by the attacking player for purposes of this rule, and if necessary a penalty assessed to the attacking player and if a goal is scored it would be disallowed."

@@EnerGblah Except that didn't occur. This is a matter of the goalie's ability to do his job. You can't just say, well there's somebody in the way so I couldn't do my job. Every goalie in the league knows you have to actually push out there and make contact with that player in order for him to actually impede you. Jarry wasn't going to put himself in position to stop that shot, no matter who was or wasn't in the way. I hate the Ducks, but jeez this was a rough call.

This is a textbook goalie interference as rule 69.1 states "If an attacking player enters the goal crease and, by his actions, impairs the goalkeeper’s ability to defend his goal, and a goal is scored, the goal will be disallowed." The ducks player skated into the crease and and impaired the goaltenders ability to make a save and the goal was disallowed. This isn't even close. I am shocked that the ducks challenged this.

The beginning of every hockey season it’s just penalty after penalty. A lot of calls are just so stupid it’s hard to watch sometimes. Let the teams play. Watching power play after power play gets boring after awhile. I love back and forth fast paced hockey. That is more exciting than all these absurd so called penalties.

Watched a couple times. Pitt dman bumped into his goalie, he’s trying to gain position on the Ducks player, he’s not entitled to that ice. The goalie is entitled to that ice, but it’s only because his own dman took it from him. I think 9 out of 10 times this type of play would never happen, the goalie would challenge the shot, wouldn’t have his own player knock him off balance, would likely be interfered with the Ducks player while challenging the shooter and the would be clear interference. I don’t think this was the right call.

I hate the Ducks with a flaming passion, but this was bullshit from start to finish. Bad call, incompetent review, followed by completely justified outrage. Calling a minor penalty on a coach's mouth is like placing opposing runners on second and third when a baseball manager kicks dirt on home plate. Just boot his ass and have it not affect the gameplay.

Listen, I'm a Habs fan and grew up with Gallagher getting a TON of similar no goal calls because he was in the crease. I hate the call just like the majority of you guys but it's essentially the right call because the ducks player is clearly in the crease and doesn't make an effort to leave until the shot is released. The goalie is entitled to all of his blue paint and therefore the ref can absolutely deem it goalie interference.

There’s a couple of different rules that could cover it but they are probably looking at rule 78 “Protection of the Goalkeeper”. Incidental contact is one thing outside of the crease, but inside the crease your not given much leeway. He is in the crease well before the puck. Both feet are in the crease, he pushes the defenseman, in to the goalie, (and it doesn’t matter if it’s on purpose or not). ..I think the refs made the right call.

1:30 You can clearly see Carrick is in the crease prior to the puck entering the crease. You can also clearly see Carrick push the Penguins defense into the goaltender. This exact scenario is even under rule 69.1 in the NHL rulebook. Perfect call to disallow the goal.The unsportsmanlike was overkill though.

White boxed out black while in the crease not allowing him to move out resulting in the goalie being interfered. The refs had no goal. The league then came back after the challenge saying no goal. Don’t say personal attacks to the ref and you won’t get another minor which is clearly in the rules. Simple situation.

refs are on one this year. Blues got called for too many men with only 5 on the ice. Craig Berube said it was a bad call after the game, then the next night the refs call 4 phantom penalties on the Blues. They need to just do their job

As a Pens fan, im happy because for the moment it gave us an advantage. BUT as a passionate hockey fan, this call was complete garbage. Our supposedly GM better get on Jarrys ass because goaltending is killing us. Just like the past few seasons
