I'm a nanny, and I just watched the four and a half year old kid severely struggle with a puzzle that any toddler could do. I'm pretty sure he has Heinsbergen Syndrome. This scene was all I could think of.

I know some people dislike Wes Anderson movies for some reason.. But if you do not find this scene fucking hilarious.. Then the problem lies with you, not the movie. Sorry buds.

Woah Wes Anderson clearly ripped off the Oliver Sacks documentary on Williams syndrome, down to the 'block test' with Heidi and sensitive hearing.

The "block design test" is a standard test given to children (and adults) as part of assessments for many things, and has been since Samuel Kohs invented it prior to 1920. So unless Oliver Sacks was "ripping off" Kohs, I don't think that's the case.

The "Make yours look like mine" thing with the blocks is actually a standard test they give young children as part of an assessment for autism, developmental delays, etc. There isn't necessarily always one block that's a different color, and iirc there usually aren't as many blocks, but it is a good way to test spatial reasoning, ability to focus, ability to follow directions, and probably some other things I'm not aware of, especially in children who are nonverbal, language delayed, or simply too young for big vocabularies or complex expression. My older daughter had some developmental delays, and was in speech and occupational/play therapy as a toddler, and "Make yours look like mine" was a test my husband and I watched her do several times--it's actually the reason she "tested out" of services, despite our protests. (She is now 21, very smart, has a great sense of humor, a good job, and friends--we still believe she is high on the autistic spectrum, and she's still a bit "quirky," but she's doing great and improving every year, so in case anyone out there is going through that with their little one, please know that it often *does* get better as they get older. I know how scary it is, but it'll be okay; you can do it.)
