I understand you lack information on the level of poverty some of these countries are experiencing. There are people fighting for basic food to survive before they even worry about other basic human rights. Situations out there in those countries are terrible but media coverage usually don't get to show you all that. Noone would prefer a foreign land as opposed to their own land obviously. Foreigners in South Africa have been hunted and killed before several times yet they remained there, noone wants to die, that on its own goes to show you how desperate people are that they risk their lives to stay there regardless. There is no smoke without a fire. The community could not have dreamt about the drugs. Drug Lords don't keep their stash in their own house. It is somewhere outside. I worked 10 years ago in Hammanskraal and lived in a guest house where I was the only adult amongst ten college students that lived there. Every weekend there was something strange about those kids. Every weekend there was a madala that drove in there in a Mercedes Benz. When I questioned the owner of the guest house she told me that it was better that I don't get involved for my own safety.
