Dueling Dragons is just one of those rides that is so unique, so different, so fun that you just have to love it. Islands Of Adventure is known for impeccable, awe inspiring, almost "over the top" theming and if you had to choose just one ride at the park to personify that - it'd probably be Dueling Dragons. From the queue that takes you through a dragon ravaged castle to the dragon themed trains, to the well thought out story that backs the ride, to the actual dueling of the ride itself - it's all there. It doesn't hurt that both of these rides would probably stand quite nicely on their own, but when paired up you have a truly one of a kind experience. This video shows both the fire and ice dragons and all of their near miss moments (some even in slow motion). The coasters themselves can be a bit hard to get multiple views of, but are covered quite nicely in this video clip.
*** On June 18, 2010 this ride was officially rebranded as Dragon Challenge alongside the opening of The Wizarding World Of Harry Potter at Universal's Island Of Adventure
***On October 19, 2011 it was announced that this coaster will no longer 'duel' and is being billed as a "high-speed chase between two coasters." The trains will no longer be sent out together and the near-misses will no longer occur.

The reason they don't duel anymore is because one time, this guy was wearing sunglasses on the ride, & once the two roller coasters did the loop, it flew off & hit another guy on the other roller coaster in the eye & the guy went blind because of this.

RosyCheeksDani I figured something like that happened but its still bullshit. This was one of the best roller coasters in the world because of the dueling part. Ill still never forget the first time I was on the fire coaster and the ice coaster barrel rolled underneath us at 00:46 in this video. Its still probably tied my favorite coaster moment of all time along with the launch of Kingda Ka and the first drop on Millennium Force/Intimidator 305

i had all these videos Downloaded into my pc when i was like 5 and i wouldmalways ask my dad "how do i get to roller coaster videos?" and he would pull up the folder and watch these for hours!!

One of the best roller coasters I've ever had the pleasure of riding. Rode it twice, one on each dragon, always enduring the longer and slower line to ride on the first row! (And of course, the rightmost or leftmost chair =P)

Went on this ride back in June. Pretty fun ride. Rode both of the coasters, both in the back row. I also like how if one train leaves before the other, that train stops and waits for the other one. And how both tracks are DIFFERENT.

@TheNigerianScammer Y I find the new tittle much better and fits the harry potter theme well and really Would u prefer that they took it off to build another ride for the harry potter part I know people that say they were lazy and just used the old rides and just build one new one well I actually think its better cause I always wanted to ride this and when I went I couldnt cause I was 3 years old and I still have the chance but this time with a theme of one of the best series of all time.

that is one of my fav coasters ever. it is a well designed inverted coaster, with the interlocking barrel rolle and the loops where your feet pass with 12 inches of the riders on the other train!

It's in Orlando's Islands of Adventure. I don't know how fast it goes but it wips your around quite a bit.

I LOVED THIS RIDE!!! interesting story: our house was remodeled and we got this "friendly" contractor. As it turns out, he designed THE ENTIRE roller coaster station for DD

The Best Ride i have ever been on without a doubt...back of the red is immense..so fast- have 2 say front of the blue is the best-we went 2 all rows on both of the rollercoasters went on this wayy to many times-just amazing!

Oh, I remember these! They were awesome!!! And, my sister was alwyas afraid, so one parent stayed with her, while the other rode with me, so I would always get to go on each one twice!!! I went on Ice with dad and Fire with mom.

Its fantatstic. Great atmosphere and wonderful incredible body shaking ride - after 30 seconds you wonder and feel pleased that you are still alive as you hurtle around more bends and twsits.Luved it!

You've got it backwards. I live in Orlando and I've been going to IOA for years and it's the Fire Dragon (the red side) that has one more inversion. The Ice Dragon has the close encounter with the castle wall. It's also worth saying that Dueling Dragons is the only Dueling Inverted coaster in the world.

The funnest ride there. I like Ice better than fire. Fire goes faster, but ice has more twist and it still goes pretty fast.

wish id rode this rollercoaster as duelling dragons,it was one of the rollercoasters i had on my list to ride before i die :( still going to ride it when i go next year,but i have a feeling it wont be quite as good :(

Here's the stats, both rides are 125ft tall. Ice Dragon max speed, 56mph. Fire Dragon max speed 60mph. ice Dragon elements: zero-g roll, Cobra Roll(which is 2 back to back inversions), 1 vertical loop, and 1 corkscrew. Fire Dragon elements: 2 Immelman loops, 1 vertical loop, and 2 corkscrews. Fire Dragon is faster than ice, but Ice has one extra element than fire, although both rides have 5 inversions total, so more or less they are equal.

Ice is much more scary because it is slightly slower so you actually see more and it has so many more close calls than fire, like almost smashing into the giant brick wall being one of them.

I rode it 3 times so far, the first time being Ice. I prefer Fire first row anyday. It felt like there were more loops and corkscrews. but both of them were amazing!!

This coaster is alot of fun. If your terrified I recommend you starting off on the Mummy ride at Universal first. Its a coaster but not scary just hella fun!

i think there safe dueling if they scanned peapil before they enter birding to check there not taking any cameras or boilings on Bord then there be nothing that could hit the cartage cause peapoil would haveto put stuff in the lockers

Well that sucks! I went on this ride for the first time last October and loved it. When my dad told me about the near misses, and then seeing them in this video, it makes me really annoyed that people would ruin it for others like that. I think I would love the ride more if I could experience the near misses!

I've been on both fire and ice. but I like ice more because its more twists. I don't really like drops but I love going upside down and twisting. Both are great though!

to start? its a very intense coaster! ice is smooth and has good near miss experience.. fire kinda gives you a headache (try not to scream lol)... but its awsome dont go and miss out! give it a shot!

this ride is awesome, went there yesterday, first roller coaster, i was only scared the first time after that it was just plain fun, rode each 3 times... it was awesommeee. also theres a trick to ride this faster, once you do the quevem go on blue, then after the ride finishes on the exit thingy just at the right there is something for babies idk but there is a door (which is always open) that leads back to the queve line for ice, almost rright next to the cars, its a good trick! shh!

i went on ice first and it seemed a like it did more flips and, and the spirals, but thats just me. and it was my first time riding it. Fire seemed a little less extreme, but there both awesum. U have to go on both.
