One of my fav songs, I will never understand why this album wasn't properly released on a vinyl, just like Rockferry, would love to have it in this format, Duffy is amazing!

It looks like it wasn't creatively different from her first album. She came out the same time as Adele - if you listen to her first and second album there's a different sound and vibe. Normally sophomore albums are crucial for artists because it keeps them relevant if it's good. This album was a little more slow compared to her first album. The studio also probably felt like it wasn't going to be a smash so no marketing money.

Duffy transcended the pop music genre. Her phrasing, rhythm, and intonation are transcendent. Comparisons to Linda Ronstadt, Emmylou Harris, and Allison Krauss are appropriate but the unique timbre, range, and inflections are hers alone. She created. with lyrics, voice, presence, and charisma her own aura and her own singular art. She must have been too delicate a soul for this cruel and harsh world but her legacy will grow.

You can Google it but easier to say here. Sadly Duffy was abducted on her birthday, taken abroad an ra ped for a period of time. She’s a beautiful broken soul who wants to keep herself to herself and that’s fine. Sending her love x

What is sad is she always seemed to know her career would be short. I don't know if there was always problems she just didn't talk about. I remember one interview though they asked her where she would be in 5 years, she already thought she would be done with her career.
