***SIDE FACTS***. The villain Dynamo was actually an Olympic wrestler and actually an opera singer with an I Q of 158. The muscle man who had the workout show. that was Jessy Ventura a former NAVY SEAL and he was Governor of Minnesota. The Game show host of Running Man was actually the Host of the TV show FAMILY FUED and former actor in the TV show HOGANS HEROS .

One of my favorite Arnold movies. A really underrated movie that came out the same time as Predator and was overshadowed by Predator success. The movie is actually based on a Stephan King novel though the movie is ten times better than the book. You should see other great Arnold movies like End Of Days, The Sixth Day, Collateral Damage, Last action hero. Fyi the guy who plays Damon was actually a real game show host in real life. Also the dances were chronograph I think by Paula Abdul.

Arnold's next film after Predator (same year) and it looked like a much older film. Based on an novella by Stephen King (under the penname Richard Bachman) and considered one of his most beloved to hit the big screen. Classic Arnold with his one liners and taking out bad guys. The set-ups of every obstacle were a bit wacky and serious. At the end of the day, it was more than just another action film. It was an allegory about culture's obsession with an medium of entertainment and those who take advantage of what's being seen or heard. It did predict the climate of what reality tv would become in the 21st century. Which is mindful and scary at the same time. Either way, this one was pretty good.

That's why the 80s and 90's had such good' movies, these still delivered messages, showed (future) dangers, teached morals etc. My generation grew up in front of the TV and many shared these values', talked about it in school with friends, socialized. Nowadays movies aren't really that educational' like they've been once, the entertainment factor became the main aspect, not an entertainingly wrapped' idea(l) or message'. - I think that's why many millennials seem to really like these old' movies, they're telling more than the movies they've grown up with.

Richard Dawson who used to host Family Feud and met his future wife who was a contestant did a great job playing with type. The final guy Captain Freedom they want to send in was Jesse Ventura who used to be a WWE wrestler and former Gov. of Minnesota! Paula Abdul the singer directed the pre-game dance sequences. The guy who plays Fireball is former NFL champ Jim Brown. Musician Frank Zappa's son Dweezil plays Stevie and Mick Fleetwood from Fleetwood/Mac plays Mic. Lots of great casting! Plot Analysis: Captain Freedom had it right near the end. He wasn't going to fight with the "tricks." We are led to think that it was because he wanted to fight honorably as a gladiator, but more likely he didn;t want to foolish gimmick to end up killing him. Look at all the other four stalkers. They were each killed by their own shtick. Sub Zero would never have been strangled if his own hocky stick hadn't severed the fence. Buzzsaw died to his own chainsaw. Dynamo died from getting electrocuted by his own suit. Fireball's fuel pack was ruptured and used to blow him up. Captain Freedom didn't want to give a single advantage to a very dangerous opponent.

In the story this was based on, the competition was much larger: The 'man' could go anywhere in the United States, but had to send in a video segment of himself every day. The public was offered cash rewards for killing him. If he lasted for 30 days, he'd 'win' a whole lot of cash. The ending is... Something that I can't imagine they'd translate into a movie right now if they still wanted the 'man' to be considered a good guy.

And the actor who played Sven was a friend of Arnold's who also appears in Conan The Barbarian. If you ever want to check out some older films that are similar to Running Man, there's an Italian movie from 1983 called Endgame and a French film also from '83 called The Prize Of Peril. And oddly Running Man is based on a Richard Bachman (whose actually Stephen King) novel which I've read and is very different from the film. Just found your channel with this video by the way, I grew up on this film, one of Arnold's best. Only Arnold Schwarzenegger can make cheesy one-liners sound so badass.

For those not familiar, Richard Dawson, who played Killian, was the original host of "Family Feud" from 1976 to 1985. I believe this was the last thing he appeared in between 1985 and an unsuccessful comeback to the Feud in 1994.

Richard Dawson was also a regular on the game show Match Game in the 70's. (A game show where contestants would have to match answers with the celebrity panel)

Great reaction guys. This film was based on a book by Richard Bachman, which is Stephen King's pseudonym. The book is not much like the film and in the book the hero dies in the end.

Jesse Ventura probably would’ve made an excellent gladiator if this actually existed. He was a Navy Seal in real life.

Marvel and DC are indebted to "Running Man", it's basically a superhero origin story minus the sequels

this imo is the best 80’s Schwarzenegger film! it’s a bit over the top! but, the social commentary is simply brilliant (and very honest) Stephen King’s book is a completely different animal…. Paul Michael Glaser (films director) had the impossible task to adapted a Stephen King story into a sci-fi/action hybrid big budget 80’s film…. There’s been rumors of a re-make for a good 15yrs (The Running Man film was also a huge inspiration for Midway’s Smash tv (1990) which was a huge Arcade hit for the entire 90’s 👍👍👍

This sure foretold the future and some of the times we live in today really. It also can be contrasted with The Hunger Games in some ways, though not the same story line.

Dunno what was the third emotion you were going for but I'd say "scared." Angry, sad and scared. ASS. Also, great movie indeed and while a bit goofy at times... with the 3d, deepfakes, ai generated imagery, tools that can match lips movement to audio AND audio synthesis imitating others voices? We're kinda heading there.
