So here is what I know so far. For C Rank: Basically fail to meet the B rank requirement. For B Rank: Finish the stage with just one death/KO without the boosters. For A Rank: Finish the stage without dying once and without any boosters. For S Rank: Finish the stage without taking a hit (Shield hit doesn't count) or finish the stage with two brave stones. And without any boosters. For Rainbow S Rank: Finish the stage with an item combination that results in a 125% or higher crystal bonus and without dying once. It's ok to use potion as long as it's within a 125% crystal bonus. Rainbow S Rank can be pretty brutal as it will involve One Hit KO brave stone so you will have to do the stage hitless. And if you add potions into the mix, you will also have to use another brave stone that will result in at least a 125% bonus. The ranking depends on the average crystal bonus. The average crystal bonus is 50%. If it's way below average, you will be downranked for this. If it's above average, you will be upranked for this.

@@AllenTheAnimator004 If you do somehow get the Rainbow S-Rank on all stages, you can call yourself a god of this game considering what you just accomplished. The ranking system is a nice cherry on top. Just saying. You don't have to if you don't want to do this.

@@AllenTheAnimator004 You get the true ending by getting all Logg Entries. One of them is located in Parusa while the rest of them is in Battle Challenges.

I agree with saying how special this game is. It’s on my list of my favorite games all of time it’s that good. I had to find out the hard way about the debuffs giving you guaranteed “S” ranks if you complete the stage without dying to get the true ending. (Which I think is possible by getting all the “A” ranks as well not 100% on that) I mostly did the time attack item and the no extra stock item to get my “S” ranks

Punchy was able to secure a good number of S-ranks despite using full agility boost and two brave stones, so that's probably a good loadout for securing them.

Good video. But there's a couple of factors you didn't touch on. You can go even further past a standard S by using a combination of brave stones and avoiding taking damage. Even with a Potion this lets you achieve a rainbow colored S, provided you didn't take damage and you have an item modifier of at least 150% (which, as far as I know, is only possible with the One Hit KO item) .

Just found out about that through another KZfaq video. I thought I was gonna have to ignore the potion system since I thought you get a penalty by using it if you're trying to get rainbow S rank. But you can use potion if you are using the one hit stone and some other brave stone (in my case, the time stone, since it really gives you more than enough time to complete the stage). In turn, makes it SUPER doable since the shield potion is op and you probably won't need five slots of shield, so you can also slip in some damage increase potion as well. Doing this with my carol playthrough and it's pretty fun to do.

This is actually helpful. I couldn't understand, how time, bonuses and gems affect ranks. Seems like gems are not required while bonuses do. But, I think there is a slight unsaid fact about combining buffs and debuffs. I was playing my second playthrough as Milla, starting with brave stones by Hard Difficulty, and then I decided to use Shield Up potion. Despite having a buff by potions, I was still getting S ranks wherever I was consuming damage with massive amount of shield points. So I think, that summary, you need bonuses Items to be not less than 50% to get S rank. That is a strategy a would say, that Shield potion is so strong for securing no hit run. And, by looking in comments, there is a rainbow S rank?! Dude that's a lot of staff to do in this game.

Yes, I wasn't aware at the time I made this video, but there is a Rainbow S Rank. I uploaded an example of that after the fact with one of the fights in the Battlesphere, and I'm still going through all the stages myself to get them all

S rank is very "easy" to obtain on expert difficulty. Just make sure you always keep your starting items on (double damage, no revivals), no potions, and no lives lost. Basically, suffer. Simple. 😋👍 For real though, I haven't been able to play without the double damage stone. It feels like I'm going easy on myself if I don't.

It's interesting to note that the difficulty only changes what you start with, not necessarily changes with the game itself. It's not quite what I expected when it came to the different difficulties

That is another way to look at it, yes. The items that basically make the game harder is what will give you the higher crystal bonus, ergo, you will get a higher rank when equipped with them

@@Duke091 But if you comb the level for every crystal without any brave stones I highly doubt you would get an S even if your total is quite high. Conversely you could probably get an S by ignoring crystals for the most part as long as you have two brave stones and don't die.

I feel that zero hit for s rank is a bit to much of a, fuck you, for rank systems, but it is optional and just my opinion. The game is still very fun to play, even if your not very good at it like myself.

I wonder if you use potions and a brave stone or a amulet and a bravestone if you can still get an S rank or because of the help provided by the potions and amulets you won’t get an S. I am genuinely curious.

So potions won't penalize your crystal bonus, which is a highly used strat when going for Rainbow S Ranks. For example, normally you can't get hit when equipped with the OHKO Stone, but you can strengthen your shields via potion to give you a substitute health bar. I personally like to fill my potion with all atk in order to finish off fights faster since I'm more familiar with the patterns, but being able to customize it to different play styles is the beauty of this game's item system as a whole.

Yes, although in this games case it doesn't matter too much. The difficulty at the start only affects which items you start with, which can be switched out for other things at any time
