Extremism can take any form-- religious, idealogical, political, whatever-- a blind devotion to a party's leader can also be seem as extremist. but you can't ban all these things. It is very wrong the Ugyhur and Kazakh are thrown in camps where they are tortured simply for believing in a God. Horrible things happen in these camps that no human being deserves to endure, and so few people are talking about it. BrokeTheInterweb Do you know what their culture is? Is hijab part of their culture? They are not tortured in some camps. Some overseas Uyghurs are lying. They are given free education on language, professional skills, and laws. When they are more educated and can earn a decent living, they are less subject to religious extremism. Do you want to see them become like Iran, Afganistan, and Turkey? Do you want to see their women covering their hair and even face? Is that their tradition or just foreign influence?

BrokeTheInterweb They were not in professional schools for believing in a God. There are tons of people believing in God in China. Uyghurs are not even the biggest Muslim ethnic population in China. As long as you are law abiding peaceful Muslim who are not interested in jihad kind of ideas or susceptible to foreign influence, no one bothers you. Look at Afganistan and Iran decades ago and Turkey ten years ago, and look at them now. China will not allow them to turn the society backwards on China territory for the people well being.

Firefly There is no requirement for women to cover their face in these areas. It is a matter of choice. True respect means allowing women to choose how they appear, and what they believe in. Yilihamujiang Yimiremizi you're welcome :) Yes but i'm a Miao from Chiang mai, Thailand came to the US in the early 90s after the Vietnam War from a refugee camp. I have plans to travel to Uyghur autonomous region sometimes in the future when i save up enough money. I love learning about different cultures and appreciate the uniqueness of every culture. I think less racism and hate will happen in the world if everyone would just take the time to learn and appreciate the difference we all bring in this world. We are all humans after all and i hate watching a beautiful video Uyghur videos with politics/hate being involve. That's how i see it. Peace, Unity and Love.

People dance sama only twice a year during Qurban eid and Ramdan eid in front of the Eidgah Mosque in Kashgar City, which is my hometown. It is only for men. It is a dance for Eid celebrations and very different from typical Uyghur dance movements. Don’t know much about it’s origins or history.
