Why do I always think of the smart guys as evil. But this guy feels too congratulatory. Like a proud parent. Instead of saying “a pillow? That’s stupid” he says “no, that powers you” and he says “eureka”

Maybe you were manipulated by some "smart people" when you were young? In any case, the perception of people being "smart" is kind of an illusion. Everyone is actually really, really dumb in their own way.

@@kabhes9040lots of gags. One idea I’ve had is have a super strong orc. And he’s like I cast the spell catapult(there is no magic involved he just threw the stone very hard) or like I cast charm on that guy and cracks a smile to try an look friendly (rolls intimidations)

It took me until the third rewatch to realize that the wizards lightning staff is probably the thing the NPC was talking about the whole time and he basically just mind-gamed Gumgum to bring it out, that's honestly kind of genius

I once had a player do the 'barbarian who thinks he's a wizard' character. He had quite a few magic wands and magic staves. They were all hatchets and axes. Woe betide anyone who he targeted with his 'wand of healing'. The wand of Knock was super effective, though.
