If the instant potatoes were thicker they would have soaked up some of the from gravy below. I’ve never used cream of potato soup before. I am tonight for a recipe from a taste of home cookbook. But I bought great value soup, now I know what it’s supposed to look like.

I don't think Cathy Mitchell uses enough Jello in her recipes to be a Mormon, lol. I'll never knock hot dish, because (tbh) I don't think I ate anything that didn't have a barcode on it until I was well into my 20's! Loved the video :)

It makes me think of an American Shepard's Pie. Nothing wrong with a casserole (though I have had some that should never have existed, haha! ) This doesn't look so bad. And I think the Cream of Potato was a perfectly fine option and maybe even better than the Cream of Mushroom.

Yeah, I bought this book kinda as a joke...buy so far I'm actually liking it. Gonna have to see what else is in store further on in the book

@@CooktheBook Hahaha! Yeah, I can see how it would be a bit of a joke purchase. A lot of recipes like that can always be jazzed up to make a bit more flavorful but the base is almost always fine.

I like the cream of potato substitution, but those cream soups have WAY too much salt. Even the "healthy" ones are bad, which is why I pass on Cathy.
