@@antonchigurh6590 to you... You think your grandma or great grandma threw out everything they bought that expired 4 yrs ago? As long as theres no evidence of melting of chocolate, direct heat, cans having oxidation, etc.. my family stocked her cabin and food was eaten over years, only buying fresh milk, eggs etc before our trips. Main staples, etc were there. Sealed in jars, cans, or pouches. Thats why you buy everything in vacuum sealed bags. Air is the food killer as well as direct sunlight and heat. If none of this factors in, great chances its fine. At worst, if its stale, just trash it then. But it won't kill him. Now adays out cans are lined with a coating vs plain metal. Especially itens with meats and acidic items. Gives them l8nger shelf life. What the date on cans are BEST BY.. not YOU MUST EAT BY... but if then are close to that date in the grocers, they trash it. Ppl want to have a longer AT HOME shelf life to have time to eat it. They confuse buying dairy, meat and produce. Which go bad fast, the newer the date put on shelf, the longer then have to drink it, use it, cook it, etc. So, if you bought a barrel of the best oil($5k) on the market, and it says, best by. 12-25-2010... you mean you'd trash it because you went past the best by date? You only used half in your car. Food a lot more expensive. Its not dairy, meat or produce.
