Dumpster Diving at Dollar General our Biggest DG Haul EVER!

We had a crazy haul at this Dollar General Dumpster a few weeks ago. This was a few days after we had been eaten by ants, but I still hopped in and saved what we could. I was in this dumpster almost an hour and a half. I was sweating so much from the heat and the work it was insane! Literally crawling, dredging and digging through this dumpster forever! It was sad a lot of the perishable items had been in there all day in this 110-degree Texas Heat! We saved food, toys, games, clothes and MORE! SO much WORK! The battery in my light died toward the end of the dive but luckily, we were already done. The work of organizing, cleaning and sanitizing everything when we got home was also never ending.
It's a dirty job but someone has to do it. This is a long video, but We hope you enjoy this SUPER SUMMER MEGA HAUL!

We are a Married couple who have been salvaging, restoring, saving food, electronics, toys, furniture and anything that is able to be saved from dumpsters before filling landfills. People dump so much good into landfills it's just crazy. We go out and check random dumpsters at random times to see what we can save, reuse, recycle and share. We also like to do bulky item pickup saves. We have been doing this for several years together and decided to post our passion on KZfaq.

I am in Riverview FL. I get that juice all the time. As long as it isn't past 75 degrees, I take it home & Rechill. We are not dead yet. Been doing it for years.

I tried this at my local dollar general the manager came out and asked me to leave and told me to put everything I got out of the dumpster back in. Glad to see someone having luck

Try to get the good stuff into your vehicle quick. Once it’s in your car it’s fine. Best to just leave right away and be polite but go back when they leave. Be careful and be respectful always.

Those fruit cups aren’t even stored refrigerated in stores…they are on counters when being bought…so they are perfectly fine if you wanted them!!! 👍

Sometimes it’s hard to get a full clear picture of what we see. Only one of those clear containers wasn’t cracked all the way through. We were able to save one. We did use it that night and have already donated it 😁.

Bread & Blankets can use the toys, puzzles, crafts, school supplies for the kids their taking care of. Will give the kids something to do.

If things say expired then expired. But if say use best by they are still good for at least 6 more months. It jars cans . And like the dog food if the lids are not poped up can last for years

Lessons learned from other cracked totes. 😬 filled them up with stuff only to have the bottoms crumble out all over the parking lot. We learn from our mistakes and take more caution 😁🐸

That dumpster always seems to have trash all around it. Either the workers don't care about leaving it there, or the trash men don't.

I don’t think it’s the responsibility of the trash company. I have seen other divers leave a mess just acting crazy throwing trash everywhere and I have seen employees just toss bags toward the dumpster and not care if they get it inside. Some people ☹️

@DumpsterHoppers I figured it was the workers doing it. I used to always clean up after other workers when I worked for this one retail store because they did the same thing, and I told the manager about it, and he talked to them, but they still did it.

I wonder why you guys are ignoring the eggs, pop? Pop doesn't expire. And the thing you were saying about was smeared , have you seen the juice bags other divers go through. Water disinfectant clears up well! Just wondering. What a haul, not too shabby.

We all got different levels of disgust haha 😆 the eggs had been in 110 degree weather all day. Not to mention who knows how long sitting in their store room or wherever before they hit the dumpsters. I wouldn’t risk them for myself so not gonna risk it for anyone else. I know it’s so wasteful but other divers hit this spot and if they feel comfortable taking them they will.
