It’s heart breaking to see all that food being wasted. There are thousands of people going to bed hungry!! We need to have someone in government to help us get that food to the needy. All stores will be liable for wasting such good useable food. We as a Americans have become so cruel to our fellow man. It was a great haul Cathie, just a sad one. Bless you for doing your part.

Our government, about 12 years ago, changed all the corporate tax credits on donating items to charitable organizations. Instead of 100%, it went to 50 % . In order to get a full credit for what they discard, it has to be destroyed. Sad, but maybe should speak to Congress representative from your area.

The thing you and millions of others don't seem to have clue about... Is the fact that about 12 years ago, in an effort to wreck charitable organizations, our administration changed the rules on donations from corporations to 501c3 groups. Instead of donating, getting a receipt, and taking a tax credit, now they only get to claim 50% of the actual value, and if they donate regularly, the paperwork is so crazy, there nearly has to be one full time employee, just to take care of this. Instead of bad mouthing the stores, and businesses, you need to get together a group and contact your congress and senate folks in d.c. and harp at them.

Oh my gosh Kathy everything is all in boxes for you to be able to get it out but some of that stuff's not able to be able to be saved if it's supposed to be cold the other day I went to Dollar general and got lots of soda pop already in the bottles and it wasn't expired and it wasn't recalled but I thank God for it

Dumpster diving Mama of two reach out to her and she can help you find out people that could help you donate and distribute the stuff that you find and it's also nice that if you could donate to like local long-term care units they absolutely love stuff like this

I know that certain stores are suppose to donate before end date. Also my son in law whose a chef told me they don't sometimes in case someone becomes sick too. But this is a Waist. So many hungry,! It infuriates me !

Donate the bags to a food pantry, they will really appreciate them. They make care bags for the homeless and people in need. Call them and ask if they can use them, I’m sure they’ll want them. Great finds.

Cathie it breaks my heart to pieces when I see so much food wasted! On a brighter note my daughter and my daughter-in-law went with me last night and we went to bed Bath and beyond and we scored like I’ve never scored before. We probably ended up with at least 30 boxes of K cups namebrand ones. And about 30 packages of ground coffee. I was ecstatic! We went to the famous candle store and scored big time! Needless to say we filled the whole bed of our truck with dumpster goodies. First time ever getting such an amazing coffee score. I always see everyone else getting scores on that. Thank you so very much for what you do!

That kind of waste truly makes me weep. You constantly hear pleas for people to donate to food-banks, soup kitchens and shelters, and yet this is allowed to happen ? I have a pill organizer like that. I put meds like Advil, sleeve, Tylenol, Imodium, ect. In it. I do put it in a ziplock bag in case it comes open. Took it on vacation. Now I keep it in my purse.

They have cell phone holders that could clamp onto dumpster to help you out. Freaking frugal use one. Just tossing an idea out there. But wow what a total waste of food! Thanks for saving what you can!
