Howdy, y'all! My name is Mike and I absolutely love scavenging for free stuff, random treasures, lost valuables and other interesting artifacts. I mainly rock the dumpster diving scene but can be found digging through trash curbside as well as scavenging the river bottoms for lost treasures in the summer months. Join me on my epic voyages!

I prowl the city streets in search of dumpster loot, curbside treasures & scrap metal as well as scour the river bottoms for lost valuables during the summer months when I can scrounge up enough money for gas. The wood blocks are for cutting things like gaskets and rubber sheet on a " clicker" machine the foam ejects the material being cut

Most libraries use those blocks to press out shapes for childrens programs. On a criscut machine.

The blocks are Ellison die cuts. You put paper on the black side, slide it into the die cut machine, press down the handle and it punches out the shape. Elementary schools use them. They would love for you to donate them to a school that uses them!

Those pattern blocks go with a press kind of thing and they punch shapes or letters out of paper. They have racks and racks of them in the teacher workroom at the school I work at. The older teachers use them to decorate their bulletin boards. The new teachers use those cricut machines that plug into the computer and cut stuff out.

Mike those things you found are punches. You put them in a hand press with a piece of construction paper and punch out a copy of the picture on front. When I Taught in Houston I used to use it to cut out bulletin board letters.

I think those blocks are templates for BRAILLE lettering. I think the beads are glued onto the patterns to make direction signs for the blind.

Hey Mike, you should check those fittings to see if they might be made from Inconel, you typically find them on high temperature applications.

Those pattern blocks must be for punching out shapes from either foam or cardboard. I'm just not sure for what purpose. They seem too small to be industrially useful. Happy New Year, everyone!

Moving my mom out of her home of 55 years. Saving all of the scraps I come across that I've seen in your videos for a local scrapper. So far: two freezers, two bed frames, chains, snow chains, railroad ties, wire, nuts, bolts, and more. Who knows what else we'll find. I'm sure the rest of the family is getting tired of me saying save that for the scrapper. LOL Learning a lot from your videos. Thanks

Those blocks are die cutters I use them to cut things for my leather earrings and other things they can be used to cut material for quilts etc.

That sign you found, we just bought a building that has a 9' stack of them! Two sheets of aluminum with corrugated plastic inside, protective plastic wrap on the outside and painted to boot. Our local recycling said they would take them but pay nothing. After watching you so long, I wasn't surprised. Taking them to the landfill.

The wood blocks go to an Ellison die-cut Machine used in education. My wife is a teacher and she was yelling it, but you couldn't hear her. Great show!

What you found in the box are Ellison die. An Ellison machine, which is needed to press the rubber down on the die, so the metal stamp will cut paper. These are used in school and the stamps are not cheap!!

They are for cutting paper shapes. Our Artco craft store had them for cutting letters and numbers along with a ton of shapes. They run from $10.00 to $50.00 each depending on the size. There is a roller machine that they go through to press them through the paper. Be careful they are very sharp.

Its awesome that your fans approve of your recycling efforts and hooked a dawg up! I reuse big tiles like that to put under game consoles and DVD player that need better air flow esp if a game console has been sitting on carpet (teens), also under potted plants so they don't stain the concrete or pool deck.

Mike, those blocks are stencils to a die cutting machine. Basically you put paper below the block, foam side down, and press the top with the machine. It cuts the stencil out and the foam ejects the paper.
