Peter Duncan attempts to complete the Royal Marines 30 Miler with 184 Troop 1984. For the sharp eyed amongst you, you will see a very, VERY young Gordon Messenger in here

The main problems with the new in take is there feet a life in crap sports shoes has done nothing but provide a complete set of foot problems add that to a very piss poor mental state of self important little me and that is the new standard and the military is so political correctness driven as to be a complete bloody joke
@liverpoolscottish6430
@liverpoolscottish6430 3 жыл бұрын
@SuperVHSchannel Utter nonsense. Standards have been falling across the board in HM Forces for 30+ years. It's got everything to do with our weak, soft society which sees children molly coddled and spending far too much time glued to a Playstation, as opposed to playing outside in groups- which was how children learnt to mix, communicate and fit in with their peers. I saw a decline in standards with my own eyes- declining fitness levels, lack of mental resilience, an inability to subjugate themselves for the greater good- the Individual Cult- Me, myself and I etc. Pastor Flaps is absolutely correct in his observations. Nor are the falling standards the fault of 80's personnel. An Army is only as good as the society it recruits from- our society is weak, decadent, hedonistic, lacking in discipline- and it is producing individuals, who for the most part, lack vigour. If you don't believe that there has been a decline in recruit standards, just watch one of the 1980's BBC documentaries on the Royal Marines, and compare it with the much more recent series from 2-3 years ago which was on Channel 5. The latter series showed recruits fidgeting, smirking and generally behaving like twats during a room inspection. One 30 year old recruit broke wind loudly- totally disrespectful towards the inspecting NCO. He earned himself 50 press-ups for behaving like a cock end. This behaviour is symptomatic of the lack of discipline which is so prevalent in British society now. The forces have been 'polishing shit' for quite a few years now. There are people serving today, who wouldn't have made it through Basic Training back in the 70's and 80's.

Best rifle ever made and there were loads made under license by various companies best on semi auto and you had to be Hercules to fire on full auto as muzzle climb was harsh but single shot whatever you hit stopped dead in its tracks that coupled with extreme accuracy made a great medium range sniper and assault rifle.
@afroliciouspresents3603
@afroliciouspresents3603 2 жыл бұрын
Rubbish. It was the rifle that suited, for its time. It was heavy and inadequate. The sighting system was basic, to put it politely. As much as the SA8O has had its problems, it is a damn sight more easy to hit targets with than the SLR, for the average 18 years old squaddie, and that's what counts. A hit with 5.56, with 4xmag Susat sight is a hit. A miss with a 7.62 with iron sights is a miss, although it works better on parade, I'll agree.
@teddy1066
@teddy1066 Жыл бұрын
Reliable, accurate, and penetrative. It was heavy granted, but muzzle climb wasn’t an issue given it was semi-automatic in the British Army.

I joined the mob in 85 and my first ship was hms intrepid. Full of bootnecks and as a 17 year old bosuns mate, it was no joke entering the mess ( barracks) of the marines with a shake book on channel night morning. But compared until back then the recruits are different. We were out playing football ect. They are all playing football online or being told their mental health is poor. Soft as white most of them now. Even the navy I joined is no longer the same.
