Just to be clear about 1:44 according to rules: "When taking rewards, if you have one or more sandworms in the Conflict, double the rewards you take" so you don't have to win it applies to any reward for any place.

I would have preferred to get 8 meeple sandworms and a separate upgrade kit for 8 minis Sandworms like they did with dreadnaughts.

I 100% agree on all your points. Fortunatly I didn't own the original so it is a no-brainer for me now.

THe release is linked to the intended release date of the 2nd movie as the first one was. I'm looking forward to trying it out and I'll probably keep my original as there are folk I know who won't manage the added complexity.

I have the impression that Paul Dennen had/has a tremendous amount of ideas and realized that future-proofing all the proposed content between the two films (possibly three) was nigh impossible, hence the need to parcel the design into two related-but-distinct products. It's an interesting choice that the worms which are so central to Dune lore are only employed as its own unit in Uprising, but for the diehard Dune fan I'm sure it's great having the ability to create a pseudo-modular gaming experience by combining elements from original Imperium at the cost of an organizational (and storage) burden. I think it is a strong possibility that future expansion content may be exclusive to Uprising, allowing for a deeper exploration of the spy mechanic and themes relevant to that product. And if Denis Villeneuve gets to make a third film, we could see the IP mature further into a Dune: Imperium - Bloodline game (extrapolated from the Children of Dune source material) or perhaps a Dune: Imperium - Legacy entry, which will add new elements to combine the previous games into a super-campaign.

Very interesting. I am considering adding the OG to Uprising, Ix, and Immortality. I am a collector so..... BUT, the extra wooden components would be quite redundant. Could they subsitute for the carboard 5 and 6th player tokens? Give them a bit of a paint job of course....

I did have the opportunity to get the new one when I bought the old, but at the time I was buying there was a Christmas sale that had the original for like $30-$35 which kind of made it no-brainer. If it turned out that if I didn't like the Dune: Imperium in general, then I wouldn't have spent $60+ to figure it out. Now, I find that I thoroughly enjoy the original, and I'm quite satisfied with it. I'm in no hurry to get Uprising although it does look good too.

I played Dune and liked it so much that i wanted to get a copy at some point and later expansions. But now, I am unsure which branch will they support? Original or this new one since the expansions don't seem to be 100% interchangeable.

You're the best one of all the new board game channels. Not annoying voice, actual arguments instead of just voicing your general feeling, to the point. Those other ones can learn from you.

I'd bet they kept the same colors of the original dune imperium base so the deluxe upgrade kit would work for both base games.

Times are tough. Not sure there's enough new there to warrant the expenditure, for what looks to be about 85% the original game. Think I'll stick with the OG and expansions I already have. At least for now...

I don't play the original often enough to warrant replacing it. Maybe down the road...

Looking forward to Dune Imperium: Uprising: Revolution next. Slightly remaking games seems to be working for them, who’s to say they won’t keep doing it. $$$

They did address a stale card market with the family atomics token. It's a potential 4 resets to the market, and we've found it useful - along with nuking the quitzak card when it shows up and I can't afford it :P

Keep Uprising, play original on the new digital version. Win-win.

I like what DireWolf does here. Its he samar game, but different. Just like the different Dominion starting boxes, Or Clank for that matter. Or even the hundreds of different 18xx games. Ita like a stystem and you choose what to play in that system.

I didn’t buy the original. I would like to get this version rather than the original game and all the expansions. This reminds me of Raiders of Scythia, which I picked up instead of Raiders of the North Sea for the same reasons. It’s just a better base package.
