I don't know what interview you listened to because it wasn't this one. I know purists love to hate on Lynch's version but this interview demonstrates Frank Herbert's resounding approval and respect for Lynch's vision of his story. It's a travesty that Lynch felt the need to distance himself from his work (as a result of studio interference), but I hope in time the resurgence of interest in Dune will have him come back and embrace his brilliant movie.
