Nomination is sure. I think it will win the oscars for sound, visual effects, editing. Especially visual effects are ahead of our time. I am not sure about acting though. Even though Timotée Chalamet did a great job already Phoenix had done better on his role of Joker. But Visual Effects is sure.

Pretty sure it'll get a bunch of Oscars. I can see it win for Best picture, Best director, Best supporting actress (Rebecca Ferguson), Best supporting actor (Javier Bardem), Production design, Cinematography, Best adapted screenplay, Best visual effects and then of course for the brilliant soundtrack Best original score. Its gonna do really well im certain, it is a masterpiece of a film.

One of the things that shook me that ive not seen anyone touch on, is how Jamis is always with him even in death, either haunting him, (mis?)leading him, or inspiring him (maybe because hes his first kill? &the divergent timeline where he's Paul's mentor) When hes fighting Feyd and gets knocked down, he stands and defiantly thumps his chest just as Jamis did when he fought him in Dune Part Onel, it was a beautiful touch and a nice callback but very subtle (just as Paul saying "may thy knife chip and shatter" Just as Jamis did) it really amped me up my first time watching

@@vincent2702 That's the thing about prescience, his visions were never wrong. He saw a future in which Jamis was his friend and "showed him the ways of the desert." When he killed Jamis in the amtal duel, he cried as if losing a friend, because he took a life for the first time. And it was Jamis who showed him that in the desert, there is no yielding, only kill or be killed. After that, Jamis was present in his visions. Jamis WAS a friend who showed Paul the ways of the desert. Just not in the way he imagined.

It may and is more likely to have the opposite effect. The story also shows the true power of religion. How it can move people to accomplish what was otherwise considered impossible. The idea that these “less civilized” people could revolt and defeat the Emperor and his army and go on to conquer worlds merely on the strength of belief. Even if it was all false, the results were still a manifestation of those lies and used against those who created them with a goal to enslave them.

Whatever the author meant to do in the books is not what is happening in the movie adaptations. It is clear Paul didn't want to take this path, but as Chani says to him "the world has taken choices for us". What should Paul have done? Nothing? Taken his own life?
