Stilgar's face after Paul gets up on the worm is perfect. It's the mix of utter amazement and fulfillment of prophecy, but also knowing his head is now on the chopping block, because Paul is truly fremen now.

Chopping block? Where do you get that? Stilgar's place would never be in question. Paul Muad Dib's ascencion is Paul's alone. Stilgar was a sietch leader. Not the entire fremen's leader.
@SmolFenFen
@SmolFenFen Жыл бұрын
@@renesegat235 you seem to forget that when Paul became fremen by passing that final right of passage, Stilgar knew that Paul would rise to leadership. Which would inevitably lead to a fight to the death for his position. It was only Paul deciding to change how things were done using his own popularity that Stilgar's life was spared. Hence, knowing his head was on the chopping block. It was a major plot point that Stilgar's own men were pushing for the challenge.

Stilgar being so hidebound about bringing on the challenge himself is even a major thread brought into the second book and contributes to Paul's decision to take the blind man's path. The morality of traditions being put against utilitarian law.

The opening of the trailer when Paul and Chani are speaking when they’re talking about swimming and particularly, about drowning, this conversation was actually between Paul and a dinner guest during the dinner scene. It is between Paul and Tuek’s daughter. Paul tells her about a man who drowned and she asked what that was.

The dinner scene was actually my favorite scene in the book. And a part of me loves it for how it was written. But the delicacy and reading of peoples interactions was so suspenseful to me. I was really disappointed not to see it in the first movie. But there always are adaptations

I am so effin stoked for this. Dune Part 1 is imo the greatest film ive ever seen. 've been a hardcore Dune fan for decades now, and with Dennis being one of the greatest filmmakers of all time, I was so hyped for the that movie. Even before i saw it, going in - so long as it was a great adaptation, I pretty much expected it to be one of if not THE greatest sci-fi film ever made. And they didn't just do that, they managed to knock it outa the park - exceeding all my expectations! So much so, that when combined with the fact that sci-fi is by far my favorite genre, it ended up being one of the greatest movies ever made - regardless of genre, while certainly being EASILY the best sci-fi film - period! Man, they made Feyd look effin terrifying, love the look! Great reaction man!

wow... the greatest film-maker you've ever seen... How old are you? Are you 5 yrs old. I'm sorry I can list dozens of directors with ACTUAL talent. I keep hearing how he's the greatest film-maker of all time. His movies suck. They're based on weird death porn and sado-masochism. I don't know maybe you're into that creepy shit? These are not great cinematic masterpieces. Blade Runner 2049 was ALL CGI and lacked a real story worth telling. it answered questions no one had about the original and was only made for money. (ex. sicario, incendies, maelstom, polytechnique, etc.) His camera angles are terrible. Too much CGI. Zero storytelling ability. He inserts scenes which do not occur in the novel, do not provide character development or narrative, and do not help to propel the storyline forward. Congrats, you failed storytelling 101. (Ex. when paul tells duncan about his dreams... he already talked about that to the reverend mother. This scene doesn't provide new details, introduce new characters, doesn't propel the plot, it's a waste of time. Like 10 minutes of *nothing*. And there's multiple scenes just like that. Why even add it to the movie? They removed the actually useful stuff and left garbage) OH, BUT SUCH A GOOD DIRECTOR. Pfft. What a joke. But he won so many Oscars... pffft. It was in the middle of Covid... Did you see the competition for those Oscars? It was Cruella and Driving a Car... when your running a race against opponents which have no arms and legs... it's kind of easy to win. Then there is Feyd. He doesn't look like that in the books. AT ALL. The actor casted would have been perfect. But then he decided to make him look like a Prometheus reject. But that's classic Dennis the Menace... smack you over the head with "bad guy". Because he's unable to direct a film where it's not completely obvious. But I guess in a world where people think Zach Snyder is some kind of God, it's no wonder.

I read the book years ago, but when I watch this trailer, I feel like I'm in the world of the book. Maybe not every scene is reflected exactly, but the atmosphere, the ambience, the emotions, the characters - yum! Even Iluran is perfect. Maybe I imagined someone a little younger, but the energy she exudes is perfect! The only thing I don't like is Chiani. She gives me the vibes of an aristocrat, not a simple desert girl.

@@jacobmcdorman5552 I like portraits of Old reverend mother, lady Jessica is perfect, Leto’s description did not match 100% but was well done by Issac which until that movie never liked, disliked in fact, baron is looking amazimg good, Duncan’ portrayal is on the playful side but done well by Jason, Raban is ok. I’m not going to criticise where it’s not needed. Star Wars by Disney was beyond shit, but so protected by media and any criticism was unacceptable. To see Dune the way it was done is amazing. Anything else is little bit snobbish. Like my brother that criticises everything and everybody. @@tomassali8870 I'm not a fan of Jessica. The actor playing Jessica is about 10 years older than Paul. They could practically be siblings. It feels weird to cast someone that close in age as his mother (in my opinion). Second, I always felt she was dangerous, she weighs like a 110 lbs tops. (creepy low weight). The idea that she could fight anyone is laughable... in the books she is a killer, not through poison but hand to hand combat. (It's not a sexism thing, it's just facts). I just saw her as a taller and with a little more muscle on her, (daily training regimen and such being a part of bene gesserit training) The rest of them were... passable at best. I don't really think "man, great choice" when I see any of them but that may be because they removed a great deal of the character development from the film. It's not like any of them could really do much with what they were given.

I'm shaking with ANGER. Fecking seriously??? the beautiful, conniving Feyd is a bald, eye brow-less, and black toothed monster. In the books he's described as... (essentially Vega from street-fighter). Brown hair, dark eyes, braided hair/ringlets, toned muscles and beautiful/vain. Not pale, NOT Bald, NO Black teeth. Supposed to look like John Snow, not a white walker. The idea was that he was supposed to be deadly and manipulative under a the guise of beauty. Man I fecking hate this director. Cuts out all of the parts of the film which are important and show the hidden depths of the characters. Then adds bs scenes which don't exist in the book and don't move the plot along or provide any kind of insight into anything. The books are interesting, about internal politics and control, heightened senses and evolution. It was essentially supposed to be Game of Thrones, but in space. I'll give you removing inner monologue. But deleting all scenes and then adding scenes which are worthless... Perhaps you should READ the books BEFORE you DIRECT the movie. I'm sick of all of these fanbois who watch these films and never read the books. YAY there's worms. Dude. There was going to be worms no matter what, get over the special effects and focus on the film itself. If you need to read the book to understand wtf is going on THEN IT'S A SHIT MOVIE. "Rawr! Look at that anger." You say you read the book... did Feyd ever yell? Get angry? Shout? Cold and calculating. Smiles about poison. Tortures people in the arena. ANGER NOT WHAT THE BOOK WAS ABOUT! SELF CONTROL WAS EVIDENT EVERYWHERE. About the worst adaptation I've seen.

@@galador8089 The Harkonens weren't bald in the books, sorry to burst your bubble (just the Baron). I literally described him just as he was described during his gladiator fight in the novel. Austin Butler would have been a great pick if he grew his hair out a bit and had a little more muscle. (because gladiator). He was supposed to be Vega from Streetfighter. (Funny, you never get any kind of backstory on Vega, but you can tell by his mannerisms what kind of person he is, it's almost like... portraying a character on a movie screen without even saying anything. /gasp isn't that what a director is supposed to do???). He's a thinly veiled psychotic bastard underneath the guise of beauty. Calling this an "interpretation" is just sick. There's a lot of different ways to show "evil". Denis Villenueve is a no talent hack and can't think of a way to portray an antagonist without beating his audience over the head with it. The reason the foil was "beautiful" in the books was just another way that Herbert stress "political intrigue and manipulation". You manipulate the people by showing them a beautiful person. Happens all the time. Unfortunately, you cannot provide "this person is actually evil" when you eviscerate the movie of any scenes which provide character development. AND THEN insert scenes which provide no character development, no background, and do not move the plot forward... Dune 1 is riddled with them. consider when he tells Duncan about his dreams? He'd already spoken about his dreams with the reverend mother, this scene did nothing to provide additional backstory, it didn't develop any of the characters, and it didn't move the plot forward in any way. 10 minutes of nothing... completely useless scene. A 'good' director would know this. It wouldn't have even been shot in the first place. These ridiculous addendums ballooned the time to an insane 2.5 hours. AGAIN, no talent hack. People just don't understand what good directors are supposed to do anymore because they don't understand "storytelling". Also, I don't believe Dennis has EVER read Dune the book. Because the entire plot is basically Game of Thrones in space. Sex, control, political intrigue. NONE OF THIS made it into the movie. You'd know this if you read the book instead of listening to propaganda elicited via Villenueve's publicist. Which is 'ironically' manipulating 'you' through popular media. Y'know, the kind of manipulation which happens all the time in the book?

@@galador8089 I'm sorry... you read the book? You understand the philosophy that went into it? You saw narrative that Frank Herbert was trying to push? “I wrote the Dune series because I had this idea that charismatic leaders ought to come with a warning label on their forehead: "May be dangerous to your health." One of the most dangerous presidents we had in this century was John Kennedy because people said "Yes Sir Mr. Charismatic Leader what do we do next?" and we wound up in Vietnam. And I think probably the most valuable president of this century was Richard Nixon. Because he taught us to distrust government and he did it by example.” -Frank Herbert Ever read Frankenstein? "Knowledge is knowing that Frankenstein is not the monster. Wisdom is knowing that Frankenstein is the monster." I say you lack wisdom. Paul is actually one of the charismatic rulers Frank is trying to warn you about. Duh? (Or did you miss the "Love the good Duke!") If Dennis the menace was any good, had spent any time with the material... he would have known that. None of the source material and Character motivations made it into the movie. He didn't read the book, his publicist lied to you. You're a fool for believing him. 40 years and it never clicked that the book was about politics and information manipulation? LoL. Either he's the stupidest mother on the whole damn planet or he never read it. If you had read the books, perhaps you'd have enough sense not to take every famous person at their word?? Because beauty and sex is a great way to manipulate people? Duh? And besides not knowing the source material. He was shit at directing. He actually sucks at it. Why would he lie? Um... I don't know... because he was literally a no name director before this? I'm sorry, Sicario was not THE BEST MOVIE EVER. It was terrible death porn. I'm sorry if you get off on that, I require actual character development and substance.

@AdenD123 “I wrote the Dune series because I had this idea that charismatic leaders ought to come with a warning label on their forehead: "May be dangerous to your health." One of the most dangerous presidents we had in this century was John Kennedy because people said "Yes Sir Mr. Charismatic Leader what do we do next?" and we wound up in Vietnam. And I think probably the most valuable president of this century was Richard Nixon. Because he taught us to distrust government and he did it by example.” -Frank Herbert Did any of that come across from the "Dennis the Menace" take of the book? Yeah, it's shit, but again. They hired a director who's only good at murder porn for right wingers. Not joking, look at his prior projects. He took a 9 year sabbatical until he could do a film he was "really proud of"... then he makes a film about a guy going to a school and shooting feminists. This is even before sicario and the rest of his fetish shit. It's just low brow death porn. So obvious as to hit you over the head. How is this guy supposed to write about subterfuge?

@@vooptr but am I wrong? No... Apart from the CGI the characters are wooden. No real life. I'm not even the first to suggest this. I get that you have to cut characters which don't have purpose. BUT WHY IN THE BLUE FECK would you ADD characters and then have them spout stuff the audience already knows. These fanbois are just taking stupid pills if they think "this" is cinematic excellence. He literally added almost an hour of useless crap to the movie which could have been the scenes he cut. To make the characters less 2 dimensional. I nominate it for golden raspberry award.
