Its not shot by imax camera, its shot digitally. What they mean is the whole movie have the aspect ratio of imax.

It's the sandworm which shocks him -- the longest anyone has ever seen ridden. Obviously, the event helps establish Paul as the foretold Fremen messiah.

I would have been interested if he had have started by that, there was no need for those two. The Lynch one was closer to the book (even if it added a few things) and was more than good enough despite all the criticism. Villeneuve didn't brought anything to what was done before and I don't like his dialogues. I'm not a big fan of his work, his movies tend to look very good but they are all very shallow. A beautiful shell with substance inside. But I would have given some money to watch Dune Messiah on a big screen, contrary to this one.

Beautiful and transportive in all the best ways. I have never felt what I felt seeing this in imax, it was a spiritual escape for those precious few hours. Denis is about to do it all over again.

I actually love how they've made Paul into a more reckless and arrogant boy, rather than have him be more regal and enigmatic in the book. I've gotten to the point in the book where it almost feels like Paul can't do anything wrong, whereas in the movies, he feels like a seriously flawed character that has the opportunity to grow.

@@joaocorreiamedia That's an irrational issue you have, because the Part 1 film didn't reach the point of the first novel's story in which Paul becomes that 'can do no wrong' leader. That will be covered in the Part 2 film. Then Paul's evolution into a tyrant would presumably be covered in a hypothetical third film.

I don't see any reckless arrogance demonstrated by Paul in this trailer. If you're talking about the sandworm ride, he does that in the novel. Stilgar is shocked because it's the longest sandworm anyone has ever seen ridden. Obviously Paul couldn't know how long the sandworm would be. Chalamet's Paul was quite regal and aristocratic in the first film -- it's much of the reason Chalamet was cast in the role in the first place. I don't expect that to change in Part 2. As for 'seriously flawed,' Paul is simply _young._ He's a 15 year old boy, and he lacks experience -- and mastery of his prescience -- because of it. He was the same way in the novel, it just wasn't as visually apparent. For obvious reasons.

Seeing part 1 in IMAX was incredible. I went in expecting another CGI fest of a movie because I'd become jaded by more recent movies. The cinematography, the soundtrack, the visuals and the sound effects were so well polished and atmospheric that i didn't once look at my wristwatch, waiting for it to end.

The audio mix for dialogue was horrible, though. A trend in recent movies. I couldn't understand what characters were saying a lot of the time because other sounds/music was so loud.

@@oneiroagentstudios aren't willing to take more risks these days. Only greenlighting big projects of recognized IPs that have "box office success". The fact that a new attempt at a big-budget Dune movie got made in this day and age is still a surprise.

@@turboterpsiirc, back in the late-00s, the director of Battleship (2012) was going to adapt Dune... Yeah, nothing is a guaranteed success, both critically and box office wise. End of the day, it's business and it always comes down to studio executives' and producer's willingness to back such projects. You can tell those folks how much of a masterpiece an adaptation would be but $$$ talks and works with disappointing box office track records will usually only make it harder for projects to get greenlight.

it should. But lets see, 2023 will be a great film year overall (new Fincher, Nolan, Gerwig, Scorsese etc.) and I totally can see the oscars giving best picture to a random mediocre movie, as theyve done before multiple times. At least VFX, sound design and production design are almost guaranteed.

Masterpiece! It is a dream to see the rich and extraordinary universe created by Frank Herbert gain such magnitude in the hands of Denis Villeneuve, the perfect director for this feat. Dune is a spectacle like the Middle-earth we see in The Lord of the Rings. Just like the passionate work of J. R. R. Tolkien, I am delighted to see Herbert attracting new readers after the release of the first part. The depth and grandeur that Villeneuve imposed on the 2021 production is in proportion to Peter Jackson's trilogy, which is in my Top 3 favorite films. The Lord of the Rings is a cinematographic realization, a epic, and I'm sure that with Dune - Part Two it will be no different when we leave the cinemas. Cheering for the biggest film of the year alongside Tom Cruise and his new Mission: Impossible. In this way, we will guarantee Dune Messiah and the birth of one of the greatest franchises in the history of cinema!

I've seen this movie 10 times in theaters. 8 of those were at AMC Lincoln Square 13 IMAX. Countless times now on Prime. Fully plan on getting it on physical 4k. I'm still just as excited by this trailer as I was months before the film finally hit theaters. For me, I can count on one hand the number of times I've felt this way. I adore this film on every level.

If WB were smart, they would do a double feature on launch day. I don't think another full re-release of part 1 is in the cards though. Honestly, the movie looked better to me in HDR on the iPad Pro 12.9 than in IMAX. I actually haven't watched my 4K Blu-ray on an OLED TV yet, but I suspect that will also look better. There is spectacle on the big screen, but picture quality is better at home.
