Doctor Frazier Bluu

Zagyg became a demigod under the god of magic Boccob from Greyhawke. He was the crazy wizard before Halaster.

Low key, one of my absolute favorite demon lords. I love the way he screwed with the other demon lords back in the day, too: he makes it look like a mortal is trying to open a portal to the Abyss. The target demon lord thinks "Aha! An idiot mortal stumbled across something he shouldn't have. Lemme go to the material and f*** some s*** up." But Fraz- Urb'luu's deceptions are so strong that even mighty demon lords can't realize that this is some insanely powerful warp magic that goes right up to a demon lord's doorstep but looks to them like this barely functioning, garbage mortal's attempt at a magic portal. THEN, Fraz has binding magic so freaking powerful that a demon lord WHO IS STILL ON THE ABYSSAL PLANE, MIND YOU is unable to retaliate or even get away. I imagine them warping in, getting ready to stomp on the material plane, only to end up in the middle of a feast in the great hall, chained up while Fraz-Urb'luu and his consorts and minions laugh and throw tomatoes and these so-called mighty demon lords and make fun of them like a bunch of high school jock bullies in an 80s teen movie. And when he's done, Fraz wipes a laugh-tear from his eye and goes "Bahaha yeah, now GTFO, loser," And snaps his fingers. Yeenoghu's minions are like "Welcome back, my Lord! How was your destruction and carnage upon the mortal world?" And Yeenoghu is just f***ing LIVID and doesn't want to talk about it. No wonder all the other demon lords despise him. Old school Fraz-Urb'luu was a freaking BOSS.

I have liked and commented! I continue to serve the beefy dungeoncast! Hello again milords! I bring good tidings! Thanks to this gracious boon of knowledge we have slain frazurbluu! The demon lord sought to wipe the lands of knowledge and laughter clean of all life, but with holiest divine smite he was struck down and forever destroyed! Unfortunately being a demon lord his influence still corrupts these lands, I must work harder to root it all out. We've had a sudden and startling increase of cultists worshipping frazurbluu, just a few days ago I found one of them arrogantly walking the streets with a little girl she claimed to be her "daughter". I smited the wench on the spot before she could utter another word...I will not allow the demons lies to reach my ear, for only knowledge and laughter can guide my heart. I worry for the girl though, I attempted to bring her to the proper authorities so that she could be cared for, but the entire time she cried and tried to escape from me. I tried to tell her that demonic cultist wasn't her mother, but she wouldn't have any of it, she continued to sob. I believe the cultists influence has brain washed this poor girl. . .wait...she is...influenced by frazurbluus power. Her mind is corrupted. Could she be a danger? Is she possessed? Do we risk another demonic invasion by having her here? She is dangerous, sheispossessed,she'llbringdemonsuponusall!frazurbluulivesoninher!*Itmustdielikethedemonitis!* Hmm? I think I blanked out there for a moment. It's been hard to focus lately, I probably just haven't been getting enough sleep. Anyway, good lords of knowledge and laughter, thank you for this week's boon of knowledge! I await the next one as always. Well that was a fun if not dark bit. Anyway this was a great episode, I had never even heard of this demon lord, but I quite like him. He reminds me a lot of baphomet, since the both have the big beefy monster look, yet are very intelligent. Although I am starting to notice a trend with evil deities. What is it with evil god like beings having rods of power? Seriously, asmo, orcus, and now fraz? Just an observation I made while watching. Frazurbluu feels like the demon lord equivalent of asmo. They're both highly manipulative and powerful. Of course they aren't exactly the same, but there is a parallel to be drawn. Being kinda similar, for some reason I just imagine baphomet and fraz having flex offs and contests of strength. In my ever expanding head canon that all the dnd deities are teens at a party, fraz is now a rival of asmo. They both lie and pull strings because they're running against each other for class president. Being so buff, fraz has the support of the school jocks. Lastly when out mentioned that harpy clerics keep people just barely alive in fraz's city, all I could think was the following. "Flesh of e innocent flesh of the innocent! Innocent flesh must live! Innocent flesh will suffer!" Anyway that's all for this week. I hope the point of my opening bit wasn't missed and didn't go over anyone's head. Fraz has always been one of my favorites ever since AD&D Monster Manual II. I really appreciate all the lore you provided, back in MM II there was like a paragraph or two and thats basically all I remember about the guy so thanks.

I share your videos with friends all the time, their grand for information and honestly the conversation is chill enough to keep me the entire time, every time.

Dude! Thank you guys for covering this guy! I'm actually gonna be running an Abyssal campaign Dual Shot! I wasn't originally planning on including this guy since I honestly didn't know a whole lot about him and a little lazily didn't feel like reading up on him. But, I saw your podcast on him and I thought... Eh... Why not!? I gotta say this an awesomely intriguing character and I'm now a little psyched to find ways to probably include him in this campaign of mine! Though.... this may make what I'm doing no longer a Dual-Shot? Hahaha! Anyway, awesome content as always Dungeon Cast!

So fun spoiler Fact, according to the cauldron of everything. Fraz-Urb'luu's staff is hidden in a pocket abyss domain hidden inside the demonomicon, but it requires 6 demon lords to rip 1/6 of the pages out of the book each all within 24 hours. And within that 24 hours you can gain access to said plane after which it closes.

Fraz was once a devil. He got kicked out of hell (pissed off Asmodeus) and joined in the Tanari rebellion against the original Obyrriths. He was one of the leaders of the rebellion (along with Demogorgon and maybe Orcus) but couldn't claim the power of the Obyrriths because he is a Devil. This is why his goal is to have petitioners in their own personal "hells."

Very old school player here. Love you gave Fraz some time. One thing though...at one point one of you mention you thought he was in the original Monster Manual. This is incorrect. He DID appear in the Monster Manual II, as well as the supplement book to the S1 module, "The Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth". Keep up the great work!

I could be wrong but I think I heard Fraz was originally the arch devil of the second layer of the nine hells. Asmodeus sent army's to distract him while he had dispater sneak in and claim his realm. Then asmodeus banished him to the abyss. Fraz used his devil skills to to organize some tanari army to become the first demon lord. I may remember it wrong but I just kicked off a campaign 2 months ago that rolls with that backstory. BTW great cast again guys I listen to everything you guys put out

Frazurbluu was an arch devil and then cast down to the abyss and became a demon lord of lies he also ran the chain Devils. So yeah now a mammon is now the current arch devil of the swampy terrain of the circle of hell

Yeah that's my boy....First time i comment since i have found you about 2-3 months ago and i was waiting for this guy to do that since he was my first demon lord i used on my regular group(on continual campaigns since 3rd,the group established from that first campaign bloodlines and all the players since them were part of those first character lines,or spouses grand-grand-grand-step-brother-orphan-wannabe part of the family)...in that first campaign i had Fraz lost himself into a fake identity for 65 years and he was a right hand man of a wizard that created a portal to lock a layer he had visited into the abyss and make it permanent until he dispell it...Fraz,lost in his lies,remained to the side of the now lich/wizard that became a king because the madness of the demon lord was still present and the BBEG of the campaign....the group killed the lich and broke the portal-device before the lich ever think of using it along with many other artifact he created...then the group fought the fake persona of Fraz and as the battle went on i rolled to see if he will remembered his true self....and then Fraz was like "Huh?!?i see,now i remembered...and i will kill everything of you"....the biggest part is that Fraz left to regain what he lost in those decades and i had him returned as side quest in every campaign since then,messing with the life of the descedants of my players....the funniest part was that they recently found his name after so many years of failures...now they calll him "Frabalu"...
