That ruleset is called Battle Companies, and I'm actually surprised at how similar the army building/maintenance/upgrade rules, injury rules, and scenarios are to what I've seen from you playing SoBaH. Was the new dragon big? I know her old green one was, so it made sense to use the large base. If her new dragon wasn’t big, then I think the standard base size is a good fit. I don’t think a good quality or combat score necessarily means it should be bigger.
