When great actors are in bad movies one of three things happen: 1. They completely phone it in and just say the words on the prompter off screen. (Ben Kinglsey in Bloodrayne) 2. They play the role completely straight becoming the only good part of the move. (Ray Liotta in The identical) 3. HAM THAT SHIT UP!! Bless you Jeremy Irons for picking three.

Oh no he wasn't having fun. Saw one of the outtakes on the DVD that featured Gary Gygax as one of the extras. Irons was chewing the scenery, arms waving in the air. Then moment the director said "CUT", his arms flopped to his sides, a real deflated and pissed off look was on his face. I hoped that "castle" this movie paid for was worth it and had rooms enough for him to hide in embarrassement.

@@willie1886 the first movie was funny because Keenan Ivory wrote the comedy. I think the rest of the movies in that franchise weren’t written by Keenan. I think Marlon wrote the comedy and that is why the rest weren’t funny or went down in quality of comedy.

The guy who got the film rights to Dungeons and Dragons actually met with James Cameron to get him to direct, but the president of TSR/Wizards, which owned D&D, insulted Cameron and the deal fell apart.

This movie is the reason why when everyone started to say how Amazing How Great Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is, We all have to follow it up with, "WE SWEAR! WE'RE NOT LYING! WE PROMISE IT'S ACTUALLY GREAT!" Jeremy Irons is a GodDAMNED NATIONAL TREASURE IN THIS MOVIE! He's about the Only thing that Works. I still remember him saying on some talk show, "Oh I went Bigger. You should've seen takes we didn't use." God Bless Jeremy Irons for knowing exactly what movie he is in and Giving us a GLORIOUS HAM & CHEESE Performance the likes of which we'll never see again.

So, the thing is, the guy who wanted to put this movie together, was forced by the studio to direct it, as they basically refused to hire a director. And he didn't know how, and he said that, and they threatened to sue him or something. I think he had managed to convince Francis Ford Coppola or James Cameron to direct the movie at some point, and the investors or studio or TSR or whatever told them to eat dirt. The director of this movie wasn't a director nor wanted to be.

I also blame Lorraine Williams. She was the head of TSR at the time, and she was A Terrible person. She’s told him to Direct or Drop the project! And he couldn’t drop it or he would get sued! Seriously, what a Shitty time to be alive. At least “Lord of the Rings” would revive the Fantasy Genre.

they made a sequel where Damodar was still alive because of the thing in his head and was the main villain of the story. this movie actually had three sequels as I recall, all straight to video!

Them the breaks unfortunately. But it’s better than my campaign where we sent a dragon to take over and destroy another village disguised as dragon cultists. We moved the dragon away from one town to another, but the mission was to get the dragon out of village which we did.

It's so weird he tried to shop this as a movie, because to me it would've been so much easier to go cheap on TV in the same vein as the Raimi produced fantasy shows like Xena and Hercules because there is some ok prop and set design here like that quicksand rug is really well done and the the bad CGI would've gotten a pass on TV. He flew too close to the sun I suppose

Hear a rumor that James Cameron was suggested to direct this film and is was after 1-2 years after making Terminator 2 and Titanic. When he was brought in, one of the producers of this “film” asked Cameron was his credentials which cause him to be so insulted and pissed off that he left right there and then.

Marlon's screams are at least a response to crazy @$$ scenarios happening. Everyone else treats demons spawning into the room or monsters popping up out of nowhere like it was a fly that flew in from an open window. Not a response most people would have in real life.😄 24:47 See. He realize the real dangers that are around him. The other characters respond like they have plot armor and are fully aware of it. Which breaks immersion for me if being in any real dangerous scenarios.

It's mind boggling how bad the CGI in this film is when prior films like Terminator 2: Judgement Day and the first two Jurassic Park movies had some really impressive CGI. Heck, The Mummy with Brendan Fraser and Star Wars: The Phantom Menace had better looking CGI than this film.

Those films had higher budgets, thats why they look better. Dungeons and Dragons was very cheaply made, so the CGI wasn't going to compete, especially back in 2000, when CGI was really still in its infancy.

I like the new one. Favorite character for me is Xenk Yendar. One scene particular had Chris Pine's character narrating his departure from the group. "There he goes...walking off in a straight line. He's approaching a rock. Is he going to walk around it? Nope- walks straight over it." 😂 I also found the grave burial scene humorous too.

😅Marlon reminds me of another part role he had in a dance parody movie he done. When his character was telling of a degrading role he was offered in the past of a film to the main story character. When asked to guess how he responded. The other character stated how he must have turned it down because it was so disrespectful. But then Marlon's character quickly corrected- No, I took that money! 😂That's what I kind of picture here in real life with this Dungeons role.

That poor dragon! He swallowed Profion. Afterwards, that animal was flying around for weeks with the worst case of indigestion he ever had. He was barfing bullets! Not something anti-acid tablets are going to cure, ever. If he tossed his cookies, he would take out whole bits of cities...

Within two years after this movie we got Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars Attack of the Clones, Spiderman, Reign of Fire all movies that looked decades ahead of this traversity.

If I remember correctly, Jeremy Irons made it a point to overact because he and the rest of the cast absolutely heated everything about this movie. He thought that the over acting couldn't have made the movie worse.

I saw this mess in the theater… There were maybe five other people there besides me and my friends. When they killed Marlon Wayans and dude let out that big “NOOOOO”, I swear I was sounding like Billy in that theater! I literally SLID out of my chair laughing!
