Barista insider : the caramel macchiato from Dunkin’ literally is an iced latte with one more shot of espresso than a normal latte, the way Starbucks makes a caramel macchiato is an iced vanilla latte with caramel drizzle over the top of the drink! That’s why the caramel settles and why people who love the Starbucks macchiato probably won’t like ones from other places!! :)

is that what you would recommend from starbucks? I only go to Dunkin because I love them and they are cheaper. SB usually tastes overrated to me and slightly underwhelming.

Nope, the Dunkin’ iced caramel macchiato is milk at the bottom mixed with the caramel flavor swirl (which I guess is the equivalent to SB caramel sauce), and two shots of espresso at the top. I believe Dunkin’s version actually uses less milk and more espresso than SB.

I’d say Dunkin’s frozen coffee with caramel would actually be the equivalent to the SB caramel ribbon crunch Frappuccino. Cause Dunkin’s caramel flavor is actually a thick sauce, which is closest to the dark caramel sauce SB uses for their caramel ribbon crunch.

Starbucks employees (like myself) have to take our temperature and take a COVID-19 survey when we enter the building. If our temperature is over a certain number we get sent home, if we answer yes to any of the survey questions, we get sent home. We also have to wear masks and wash our hands before clocking in for our shift and every 30 minutes while we are at work. We also are required to wash our hands before we leave and in my store particularly, we have hand sanitizer all around. Believe me, you have nothing to worry about with Starbucks. We are taking all of the safety precautions. We are probably one of the cleanest places you could go to during this time.

I'm a Starbucks lover but I also like DD. My go-to drink at Dunkin is a medium cold brew with almond milk and two pumps of caramel craze. It's so delicious. I love to taste my coffee but I also like a little sweetener. You'd love that one.

Agree about the cold brew! Dunkin's coffee in general isn't strong and tastes watered down. In the other hand, Starbucks coffee tastes like straight up coffee beans.

Latte is a shot of espresso (depending on cup size) and more milk, macchiatos are where its at for more of a coffee flavor. I get a caramel macchiato with skim milk from both places!

I’m so sad that all the Starbucks near me are closed. I can’t wait to get my confetti cookie and iced guava white tea lemonade. Also totally recommend if your not a huge coffee person even though I still love coffee.

I usually drink more high end stuff when I have black coffee or espresso (I don’t drink it daily so it’s not actually too expensive as a habit) but I will get a really sweet drink at Dunkin or Starbucks. I’m not a fan of the actual coffee from either place, but I like the lattes and specialty stuff bc they just taste kinda like milkshakes to me.

Only difference between a latte and macchiato is that macchiatos are layered and there’s an extra shot of espresso. That’s why it tasted like a latte.
