Who wouldn't want to dunk at 40? Well, it's my personal challenge I've set myself and I thought I'd share it with you.
By the way, I was going to upload this to a whole new channel, but then I thought, why not upload here?
I'll upload progress two or three times per month, please keep me accountable haha.

The key that I have found is to heal up and rehab everything first. I'm about to turn 60, have not dunked in 35-40 years, I'm only interested in dunking two handed off two legs because it is by far the most difficult, meaning you have to rehab/fix everything. I've fixed a ton of things last couple years, we will see, It was hopeless when I started, just completely frozen, fused etc. Not quite 60 and still getting better

Shame there's no follow up to this . I started dunking again after a 20 year break from bb . Could still dunk at 40 on 10ft , though I am 6,'4" . Been playing and dunking since , now approaching 42

I got to grabbing a 10 foot rim again easily with two hands, but need to get higher to dunk. Life definitely took over and this is a good prompt to get back on it. Ace that you're dunking at 42! I'm 6.1 and turning 41 in March.

@@petescott great to hear from you . Yes life does get in the way of certain things , certainly when they don't involve work or other necessary commitments. Grabbing the rim with two hands is a great accomplishment in itself at 6'1", I'm too scared too as I jump of one foot so the forward momentum can lead to a fall and broken bones 🤣 I can palm a ball easy so that's why I can dunk , as I only get about 8" above the rim with finger tip . Anyway hope you give it another go . All the best . Andy from the UK

I am 6'2" and want to be able to dunk again as I could in high school, though I could only do it with one hand then. Question: Have you encountered any kind of back, knee, or joint pain after such a long extended break? Thank you.

@@PalaniRides hi , just read message . No is the short answer. I actually think not playing for 20 years helped as in I haven't been pounding and jumping on a basketball court for 20 years which I'm sure would have lead to wear and tare . My main problem has simply been I'm not as supple and when I first started I would wake up the next day stiff as a board but that's to be expected when you do anything new . I have found recovery takes longer along with minor injuries like a pulled hamstring seems to take months and months to get better, where as when your young it takes a few weeks tops . I simply take things slower now due to my body not being youthful. I train wisely, listen to my body , if something hurts stop straight away , not battle on . Rest when I feel its needed . Warm up alot compared to when I was young . And do plenty of static stretching but only ever AFTER practice never before. Warm up properly before and do moving stretches like toe to hand kicks , leg lateral swings , lying hip frusts that type of thing . I did have some knee pain when I first started now I think about it . I found poliquin step downs and deep body weight squats very beneficial and certainly didn't have any knee pain after a month. I continued doing them and still do . 3 sets of 12 each leg and for squats 5 sets of ten three times a week for both exercises. Thanks for message.

@@jasonh6464 haha, this one is 9.10. I got to grabbing a 10 foot with 2 hands again after like 15 years, but not dunking. Just catching up with comments now and also back on the plyometrics.
