The Dunlop Revelation Pro is a difficult racket to use straight from the factory. It's very stiff and to compound things is often strung way to tight (feels like around 30lbs).
In this video I discuss how to make this into a playable racket!

Could you please explain in more detail or with a closer up video of how to do the knot at the end. I just tie a basic knot and your method seems much more effective/clean. Thanks!

Hey there, so the knot is a Parnell knot. If you do a search for Parnell Knot on KZfaq, I think there are a few really good videos, including from the main man, Richard Parnell, a good friend of mine. Advantages of this knot is that the tail always points up, in the same direction so it looks a lot neater, whilst also being a generally better and safer tie off.

Hi Jon The bit at the end when you are randomly stabbing the strings to straighten them. Seen you do this a lot and meant to ask before. How does it work? You have a special tool for this? I do it by hand after but this seems much quicker but hard to see what you are doing from the video.

Hi Simon, yes I use a setting off awl. It's blunt ended and I go in at an angle. The strings should be pretty much straight at the end but I always do this finish it off.

@@stringdoctor6238 ok. I'll have a look. Need to invest in some more awls after my bumper debacle this week! Found some curved ones to help guide the grommets. Thanks

hi Mr Sharpe.. here from India.. I have recently bought a very light racket - Ashaway powerkill meta ZX. I'm an intermediate, been playing with 305 green or Dynamix VP mainly. Both strung around 23-25 based on the racket. now this new racket has a strung frame weight of around 140. I'm really worried that the improvement in volleys and short game due to the maneuverability will be over run by the lack of power. would Dynamix VP at 22 Lbs work with this racket.. would the accuracy suffer cos this is a 460 mm2 frame size. I have been wasting a lot of money on restring jobs recently. and this racket comes unstrung. really want to nail it at the first go. any suggestions will be greatly appreciated

Hey there, good questions. With very light rackets the reason you often get for lack of power is a low swing weight - as the heads are normally quite light. So rather than taking the tension down too much (although 22-25 is about the range I would use), add some lead balancing tape to the head. It doesn't cost much money and is very easy to do. Just do a search on stringing websites near you and you'll be able to find 👍

Around 4grams weight should work well.

@@stringdoctor6238 thanks a ton. Though this racket is even or slightly head heavy, one never knows unless played a few games. Will string with Dynamix VP at 23 and put on lead tape if the drives are not powerful

@@dhichkuaoo ok. Little tip though. Fully strung, most rackets are actually quite head heavy. Even those manufactures who say their rackets are head light are measuring without strings or grommets in the frame which add about 25Grams weight (so make a Big Difference). Don't worry too much about the weight of the racket, it's how it feels that counts 😉

When u string the crosses i dont see much flex in your clamps. But it seems like the clamps flex alot while stringi g the mains. I guess its because the clamp channel runs parallel to the mains. Seems like a design flaw.

A lot of the time it's when the string slackens in the gap and gives the impression more than it is - I.e the clamp doesn't move as much as it may appear to. But generally more noticeable on mains.

I generally use the following. 20-23lbs low tensions for more power, 24 - 27lbs for mix of power and control, 28 - 30lbs for more control. Obviously depends on the type of racket you use and what your playing style is like. This racket plays well under 27lbs

I'm stringing 2 of these racquets today and notice that the short side is marked opposite of where the tie off marks are written on the frame. I was just curious if it was the same for that racquet. The long side is marked with the tie offs.

It varies per model but don't worry too much as you should have tie off grommets even if not marked.
