Welcome to my Channel, thanks for taking your time to watch my video.
I was recently asked to test the all new adventure tyre by Dunlop namely the Trailmax Raid, a 50-50 adventure bike tyre aimed at the Pirelli Scorpion tyre also a 50-50 tyre, which has been around now for a number of years.
Not to be mistaken with the Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR a very much more Road biased type of tyre standard fit on the Yamaha Tenere 700 and Aprilia Toureg 660.
I've been using the various Adventure Bike approved tyres on the many varied manufactured Adventure Bikes that I've been riding as you will see on this Channel with my World Tours, UK Tours and ride outs in Scotland most Sundays all year round. Covering copious miles along the way.
I intend to provide you with a rounded synopsis of the tyres performance in various criteria, whilst riding them on a BMW R1250 GS, over varied road surfaces both sealed and unsealed in wet and dry conditions.
I will judge the Dunlop Trailmax Raid Tyres on various criteria viz:
(i) Handling (ii) Wear (iii) Grip (iv) Look & (v) Noise.
This information will be collected over a couple of videos which I'll post on my Channel.
MY CONCLUSION AFTER RIDING OVER A THOUSAND MILES ON THESE TYRES ON VARIED ROADS SURFACES AND CONDITIONS ARE AS FOLLOWS :-
(i) HANDLING :- HIGHLY RATED BOTH ON BOTH WET AND DRY ROADS.
(ii) WEAR :- WITH THE HIGH SILICA CONTENT WEAR IS SLIGHTLY DOWN BUT ACCEPTABLE.
(iv) GRIP :- WITH THE HIGH SILICA CONTENT WAS FANTASTIC ON BOTH WET & DRY ROADS.
(iv) LOOK :- ON AN ADVENTURE BIKE, A MUST THEY LOOK AWESOME.
(v) NOISE :- SLIGHTLY UP ON A TRADITIONAL ROAD TYRE BUT NO WAY INTRUSIVE.
I'M CERTAINLY LOOKING TO BUY & RUN THESE TYRES ON MY OWN BIKE IN THE FUTURE...

Hi Paul thanks for your comment. In answer to your question 4s or Raids l would opt for the Raids just because newer tyre to the market and more up to date research has gone into them with a big silica content too. The 4s are vg too but go Trail. C.B.

Sorry, struggled to hear the wind noise over the commentary, or was it the other way round🤔. However, nice riding but would be interested in your opinion on these tyres as considering them and the Karoo 4 for my next options. Thanks.

Interesting you said these or the Karoo 4 I have obviously got the Dunlops on my R1250GS as u seen in the vid. I bought a R1300GS few weeks back vids on my Channel re this and it's shod with the Karoo 4. Both excellent 50/50 tyres please let me know your type of riding. Thanks for your reply, riding will be a mixture of road, back country gritty roads some that have grass running down the middle of them, some gravel and some green lanes/farm tracks. Would be interested to know which you prefer the Karoo 4 or the Raids and also which you find quieter as nobby tyres tend to howl somewhat. Congrats on the GS1300, test ride one recently and loved it. Cheers. Paul.

Hi Paul I've been riding both my R1300GS and R1250GS back to back for a month now and I'm happier with the Dunlop Trailmax Raid over the Karoo 4 which is std on my Gs1300. The Dunlops are also giving me vg mileage on my R1250GS. Cheers C.B.

Hi thanks for watching my video. I've done 1500 miles so far with these tyres on the R1250GS and front hardly looks to have worn the rear probably has used one third of it's tread. With the high silica content in these tyres l'm very pleased with them on wear especially the top level of grip that l get with them in both wet and dry conditions. C.B.
