Putting together a lens kit for Sony E Mount? (a6500, a6300, a6000) You NEED these lenses!!
When putting together a set of recommended lenses for Sony a6500, a6300, & a6000 cameras, I had to think about lenses that didn't cost a fortune, worked well together, and had great quality!
- Think about the basics that you'll need for a second -
To start, you want a lens that is a decent all around zoom lens, some wide shots, to a bit of telephoto. This is where the sony 18-105 f4 G lens comes in. Reasonably sharp and extremely versatile, this is the lens that stays on my camera in case I need to pull it out of the bag and get the shot NOW!
😁 SONY 18-105 F4 - geni.us/Dunna18105
▶︎ A cheaper alternative would be to use the kit lens... its great!
Next on the list for me would definitely be a wide angle prime with a nice wide aperture! Enter the Sigma 16mm f1.4 dc dn e mount lens. THIS LENS IS INCREDIBLE. 16 mm is perfectly wide for vlogging or landscape and architecture. The f1.4 aperture makes this lens amazing in low light and for creamy bokeh. I actually have nothing bad to say about this lens. And that minimum focusing distance 😍
😁 SIGMA 16mm F1.4 - geni.us/Dunna16mm
▶︎ Possible alternatives for this are the Sigma 19mm f2.8 or the Sony 16mm f2.8.
Finally, for a great range of run and gun shooting, with the ability to take killer portraits as well, I recommend the Sigma 30mm f1.4 dc dn e mount lens. With a full frame equivalent of 45mm field of view, this lens is great for street photography and the f1.4 can still give you amazing separation when shooting portraits. If you could only put one prime lens on your sony e mount camera, this might be the one.
😁 SIGMA 30mm F1.4 - geni.us/dunna30mm
▶︎ For something a bit cheaper, go with the Sony 50mm f1.8. It's not quite as fast, and a bit cropped in on the aps-c sensor but Its a great portrait lens!

For the mere mortals that still use a6000, OSS is a godsend. I'd be interested to see a comparison between a6000 with an OSS lens vs. a6500 with the same OSS lens, if you are looking for ideas for your vlog. Thanks

Javi - that’s a pretty tough call. Honestly when I’m traveling, I’d rather have a bit of a zoom lens than just one lens, that’s why I love my 18-105. I can go wide for architecture, landscapes etc, go medium for street. And get a little further in for nice compressed portraits. The only downside really is the f4 aperture

Does this Sigma 16mm lens is Zoomable? or it can´t zoom at all?
@dunnadidit
@dunnadidit 6 жыл бұрын
Hello Boy - it’s a prime lens so there is no zooming in the lens. Typically if it is a zoom lens it will have two numbers in the name. So for example, the kit lens is a 16-50mm. So at its widest, it is 16mm and at its most zoomed in it is 50mm. Hope that helps!

Actually my favorite lens is the 70-200 f2.8 alpha mount by Sigma. It is very sharp and has good bokeh. Of course it has limits being a long zoom. I use it on my Sony A77. I tried it on my a6500 but the focus features are limited with the adapter, so I keep two cameras. After that the Sony f1.8 35mm is pretty good. My walk around lens is the Sony 18-105 f4. It isn't the sharpest but it is great for casual shooting.

You've asked for a con for the Sigma 16, I guess it would be awesome to have optical stabilization for video. Not that critical considering how wide it is, but if we were to think it's useless we wouldn't hype this feature on action cameras anyway. Of course we can't have everything, but still. That applies to the Sigma 30 as well, both Sony 35 and 50 primes are f/1.8 OSS, giving them a nice advantage over the first one.

Hey man! The 30mm 1.4 is definitely an amazing lens. But if you NEED oss the 35 might be a better choice for you. I have the 6500 so I have the in body stabilization and it’s a life saver. But it really depends on what you do? Do you shoot more photo or video?

@Tarets
@Tarets 6 жыл бұрын
TBH Sony 35mm's image quality is crap. It's got really good AF and IS, but for stills it REALLY lacks sharpness, even stopped down. I'm not a sharpness freak, I was even fine with kit 16-55, but this lens was the first that I actually found too fuzzy. It's great for video though, because the image is being downsampled anyway - I love it. The IQ of Sigma 30 1.4 is superior to it, but it misses more often, it's loud and ofc it lacks IS, so it all comes down to your needs. I wish there was a 35mm on the market for aps-c that would no-brainer, like the Sony 50 1.8.

I like your videos, but i defnetly miss the sony 35mm 1.8 in that lineup. The Sony 35mm 1.8 is excelent and i allways recomend people who use an a6000 a6300 or a6500 this lens as their first prime and so far everybody likes it. Ifeel like most people forget, that it exists even though it is an excelent lens. And i would not recomend the Sony 16-50 kit lense, i know it is cheap but in my opinion it is a pretty bad lense (but maybe i am spoiled) My ideal lineup for people who are getting started with an aspc e mount camera. Sony 18-135 (very versitaile and sharp zoom) Sony 35mm 1.8 (sharp nice bokeh and steadyshot and very small, an ideal lens for apsc) Samyang 12mm 2.0 (only manuel focus, but man this lens is hands down the best price to performance lense i know, just amazing performance for a small price)

@@delagente6922 It is compact and light but it also has really bad image quality, especially towards the edges. Hey! Thanks for watching and yes, I understand everything you wrote! I’m not sure exactly what it is that makes certain lenses more expensive to be honest. My understanding is that it’s harder to make them I guess? It seems like mid-range focal lengths for portrait shooting seem to be the easiest and most common to make, but when you go wider, or go more telephoto, it gets harder to introduce a wide aperture. I’m not 100% sure though and I could just be making that all up haha 😂 thanks for watching and subscribing!!

@dunnadidit
@dunnadidit 6 жыл бұрын
Yeah it looks like it’s a bit sharper of a lens from what I’ve seen. That’s a tough call though. The 18-105 has the constant f4 and internal zooming (better for gimbal work). I think if I was purely doing photography, I would like the 18-135, but I think for what I’m doing I would still go with the 18-105, even if it’s a bit bigger and has a little bit less reach! Great point to bring up though! That could have been the alternative instead of the kit lens!

Great video! I wish I had the sigma 16mm f1.4 but I bought the Rokinon 12mm f2.0 a couple years ago (before the sigma existed) and it has probably been my favorite lens. 16mm is wide but 12mm is a fair amount wider than just 4mm would suggest. The lens has vignetting problems at f2, but if you can find it cheap it's totally worth it. Also the Sony 35mm f1.8 OSS should also be on this list for a Sigma 30 alternative. Love the video. I am relatively fresh to the Sony world and so far I am smitten. Not sure if this was brought up already: What about vintage glass? There's tons out there, much of it is cheap and just drop-dead gorgeous. Pentax, Canon, Minolta - you name them. There is almost too much choice out there. Sure, they're not that great for vlogging, but for B-roll....I'd say "bring on the vintage".

Yeah! Vintage glass is great as long as you’re into manual focus. I have a couple gorgeous Pentax lenses!

Thanks a ton! I’ve heard really good things about the 12mm. I have one friend who uses it for all his urban stuff and his photos turn out great! I don’t personally have any experience with it but I think as long as you can handle manual focus, you should be good to go with it!
