I really do love the smoothness of MK2 (never heard the earlier versions). I can just put them on and let music play. It does lack punchiness compared to my Prestige LTD and other lower end DD bass iems. But for a non fatiguing but still detailed, warm and well separated (well as in clear but not a big nor small soundstage), these are great imo. I do love REM and have noticed that their music can really test headphones and iems. I haven't yet tested these with REM. Songs like Uberlin and Losing My religion can get really harsh with the wrong transducers. Thanks for flagging that. I'm sure i will have gotten there eventually given how much REM I listen to but now I'll test it out more deliberately. Overall, I am really happy to have the SA6 in my collection as a relaxing and enjoyable set. I'm about to sell a lot of gear and the main determinant of what gets culled is sibilance. These are very safe in that regard.

What would you recommend for metal, specially NOBHM and power metal, around this price point or higher.

Love B.A sets the etymotic er4xr is an iem that just sounds right and about half the price of these fully recomend its a single balanced armature tuned to near perfection from the bass,mids, and treble

I love my Er4xr's, especially the midrange. I too describe them as near perfection. What could be an upgrade to them? Been waiting for the release of sa6 mkII's thinking that could be it

How would you say these compare to the Divas? Obviously they're not in the same price category, but they both have 6 BAs and they both have strong midranges. Also, any timeline on when we can expect the Madoo type 512 review?

Have a big backlog but hope to do it by mid-June at the latest. Since I own it, not rushing to complete it.

I bought the Hifiman Arya Stealth based on your review of it and love it. Could you could recommend a IEM around the same price as the SA6 MK2 that does not have the same shortcomings as the SA6 MK2? Thanks in advance.

Check out the Madoo Type 512 if you like a warm bassy sound with good midrange and speed. Doesn’t sound much like the Arya Stealth though.

Any thoughts on how this compares to IE900, especially if you are willing to work with little bit of EQ for IE900, is it worthy to consider this, if you already have IE900? Thanks in advance

I have the ie900 and the SA6 Ultra which is similar (and reportedly not as good as the mkII), and though I love the ie900 and agree with Amplify's review of it, I like the Ultra's even more, and use them more than the ie900 or Mest MKII. It's just a great fit for my preferences (jazz and orchestral music for the most part), or ear canal shape, etc. Better have both if you can though, they are worlds apart...

Have you heard the symphonium meteors? If so how would you compare bass and mid range performance to these ?

Meteors are better, could be the best iem under 900-1000 bucks right now.

@@aceofspades6667 Each of them are very different, so you would need to answer the question, what you are after. Meteor is spacious, laid back, romantic, with very strong subbass and midbass shelf. A really great bass for BA. Great allrounder, with buttery smooth mids and sparkly treble. Ie600 has dip in upper mids and quite boosted trebles, so it can be sharp and piercing. The DD bass is great but is more separated from the midrange which makes the overall sound drier. Blessing 3 is harmanish, with poor bass response, brighter upper midrange and very forward vocals. A rather mid-upper mid centric iem. SA6 Mk2 is mainly mid centric, with focus on vocals as was mentioned in this review.

@@karolkedzierski5824 thanks I think based about that the meteor would fit the bill. Ie600 bass would be intriguing to try but perhaps the treble would be a bit too aggressive.

Prefer the meteors
