Clarification time: Because sometimes i'm not clear when i talk, here is what needs further discussion. * When i mentioned the water bottle is a rabbit bottle, i'm mentioning the OZ in size for a Rabbit. Not that Rabbits should be using bottles over bowls. Rabbits much prefer bowls and are more natural for them. Rabbits can still use bottles when on long trips outside of their natural environment like car rides. * When mentioning you'd need to register an ESA which means emotional support animal, you would be registering it to the collage. ESA's don't need registration on their own but campus laws require you to register your animal to be on campus if it's considered an ESA with them. Collages in the state of WA and around the US may forbid animals being on campus or in dorms and would need students to fill out a ESA form to see if they can be allowed to bring one on campus for what they're intended, to be support. However a collage can still deny your application, as seen here at the rescue with past applicants who do not meet the collages requirements for an ESA.

My local rescue has a main rat volunteer. She keeps her pets in the garage. She spent 10,000 bucks for her to overhaul the garage, put insulation, install an air conditioning units, its freaking amazing. 😍😍 she has probably 20 critter nation cages in there. Yasss plzzzz

There is one good thing about this rescue.. They weren't being housed in the same tiny ass cage together. Qui Gon is absolutely adorable, and Obi Wan is just a fluff butt

I always make the comparison of, if you wear too small of shoes, it would be uncomfortable to run in them and would cause damage. The same goes for too small of a hamster wheel.

I'm so lucky that when I moved out to finish my degree my mom agreed to care for my fish until I bought a bigger aquarium ;; (mom wants to keep my 35gal and is paying for me to buy a 40gal breeder...) she loves my loach Macaroni and my upside down catfish. Seriously though small pets are for life as much as cats and dogs are!! Obi is so cute and chill, I hope he gets a good home.

I dont understand people who just...get rid of their kids pets? Like, I'm fully responsible for my animals. I still live st home, but I'm an adult, with a fulltime job If for some reason I ever had to leave my animals in my parents care, I cant imagine them even considering just getting rid of them without me knowing or approving it. Even if they arent super involved with their care, they still wouldn't betray my trust like that. They may grumble and groan but in q pinch if I NEEDED them to care for my animals temporarily they would. And if they needed to rehome, they wouldnt do it behind my back That said- do you only adopt out your rescues to locals/semi locals? I have 2 hamsters currently and would love to rescue in the futute but I dont think I'm anywhere near your location

Obi Wan is the cutest little guy, he seems so kind and gentle. Elderly pets just melt my heart. I have nine rat grandpas and they are my everything.

I like how in every single one of her videos she tries to give you all the basic info you would need to get a hamster like cage size, food, water, hides, chews etc. it’s really nice she does this cause if a parent watches one video of hers they will know not to get that cage that their child likes but a cage that would be suitable for the pet.

On the topic of college and hamsters, if I went to college my mom would take care of my hamster, as she loves her too. My mom had some winter whites during college in her apartment because the science lab's hamsters had babies. I guess her apartments where chill lol. It's sad that they had test hamsters though, and what kind of incompetence was happening that the hamsters had unplanned babies?!

I've never heard of this channel. I've never watched videos on hamsters, but yet I have always adored rodents of all kinds and have owned many in my lifetime. This includes once as an adult where I spoiled my dwarf hamster (Bruce) rotten and we had the strongest bond. Sadly he passed away from cancer but he lived to be almost 4 years old (which is crazy from what I'm told). So glad KZfaq randomly recommended this channel. Love what you're doing and wish I was in the position to be able to do the same. My heart breaks for all the tiny furry friends out there that are constantly being neglected and discarded. Thank you for educating, raising awareness, and giving these little ones a chance at a better life.

keeping a pet in a garage! poor thing :( i’m not sure what the temperature would be but i’m guessing it would be quite cold, not to mention that if there was a car in it the car might be loud and scare the hammies.

I feel bad for my syrian hamster I had as a teenager. I thought I did the appropriate research on it and asked the people who should know (aka pet store employees), but I really didn't. I remember that his wheel was too small, he wouldn't run on it and I don't think he had chew toys either. His cage wasn't super small, but for sure not 420in2. Good to hear that at least it didn't lead lead to an early death since he passed away at 2 years of age. I'm glad chanels like yours exist, if I found yours then (it didn't exist back then, but if it did) my hamster would have a much better life. Thank you for all that you do!

I really want to thank you. I got an old lady hamster at home and even tho I always had a proper cage, I did not had all the stuff that are needed tp really make a hamster happy. Because of your videos I was able to make the life of my old lady better.

Lol at the "they need toys to chew" so does my squirrel... my mom got mad one day, because I came home with $30 worth of toys for the squirrel, "why that many?" Well, all the things I read online and even the vet, says he needs 3 that I can change out every few days, so he doesn't get bored. And what's a $3 wood toy?? He destroys it in a matter of days anyways... 🤣 he loves his stuffy though. 🤣

I’ve been very fortunate that my mum does look after my hamster and rabbits whilst I’m at University. Though I do make sure I’m home Friday - Sunday to work and to clean them out! And am home during the holidays. But yeah it’s great having parents who do look after my animals for me! But again, I’m in a financial place where I can and do pay for everything for them! So it’s really just them feeding them, interacting with them and making sure they have water!

Hey Munchie just letting you know kiln dried is just as dangerous as normal pine because the kiln drying process is only made to remove water! It doesn't get hot enough to break down the polyphenols which are what is dangerous :) Thank you for rescuing all these hammies!

I'm amazed that people don't even take the time to clean the cage and put new bedding in there before they give it away.

I love hamsters. My GF is way into hamsters. All of them are rescues, but we keep them until they pass, because we get attached. Three large cages and one below size for quarantine. My GF got me hooked and my favorites are Djungarians, but any hamster will do. all three are sweethearts. "Strype" was my baby. he was a biter, but we got him good care regular food absolute love he became palm trained, would even come out of his cage to be handled and fed. I wanted to make a comment on grapes. feed them a maximum of half a grape with a significant lapse between feedings. Two things to watch for is "wet tail" and the grapes in general. Items I prefer to feed ham hams are sunflower seeds. That is a preferred food for birds and I do not use the salted or flavored type. Stay away from Canary seed type food and vary their diet with vegies and fruit and I spoil all of mine with non buttered toast. Ocassionally they do get cheese and a small portion of hamburger. Strype was partial to cheese burger. I don't know how adverse they are, but he loved me and I loved him. He passed a few years ago and he died of a respiratory infection. Like I said I rescue, and I go nuts when when we get a new hamster. My recent add was Foxy, beautiful coloration and adorable. Feel free to correct me, we watch your show on You tube constantly. The bad news you send our way we nod or shake our heads. When we lose a hamster is when we go to petco and grab a rescue replacement. My method of rescue keeps us busy and we only have to have them get used to us. A great hobby and lots of room in my heart for them. Oh, yeah we have experience sad stories of rescues. Maybe later. I write about Strype and I'm a mess. We presently have Foxy, Busy, and Squatch. I have no openings yet, but feel free to include us. Life is pretty dull without a hamster. I live in Utah, so we have to keep an eye out for winter. Please feel free to respond with ideas and helpful hints. Good luck in my old stomping grounds of King County.

I went off to university and my mother threw out all my clothes and books and killed my betta fish (2 years old) within a week of me leaving.

Thanks for showing the good and bad with the rescues! It's good to shine light on this as it can be a thing anywhere, and shows where lack of knowledge is at with hamster care as well. I adopted two cats in bad condition (much like these hammies with bad fur) and they have blossomed with proper nutrition and care, I am hoping the same happens for them 🥰

Those terrible cages are quite often the ones hamster's get rescued from in the UK. I adopt from a rescue and you would not believe the amount of cruelty some of these hamster's have gone through it's really heart breaking.

I always choose 12in wheels, no matter the species. It's actually easier for a robo to run in a big wheel, I will always recommend it. Unless it is a stiff wheel, they can easily push it. Besides, bigger wheels reduce the momentum, which prevents spining, that is not prevented with minimum size.

I HAVE A HAMSTER NAMED OBI-WAN!!

My hamster has a twelve inch wheel and it almost didn’t fit in his cage so we had to take the stand off and it worked, but my hamster doesn’t use it, he just tosses his food on it, XD, instead of running on his wheel, he runs around his cage like a maniac and jumps onto his hides and level (used a bendy bridge for a level, works really good). Sometimes I don’t get my hamster but I love him, XD

I could never imagine leaving my bunnies to go live in my college campus. I at first wanted to be a residential student at my college (its an animal management college) and asked if it would be possible to bring the bunnies along and they said no unless I sign over permanent ownership to the college so I immediately decided that it would not be an option. As much as I trust my family to do a good job, I just don't like the feeling of something happening without me there

Even at petsmart they tell people about wood chews, so I don’t think there is an excuse at this point

I had to leave my rabbits at home when I moved out... it was only temporary though. I moved in winter and I needed to get them a proper outdoor hutch...which is kind of hard when everything is covered in snow. My dad fed them but I had to return home weekly to clean up after them because he was not dealing with that :P Ironically when spring came we (as in the landlords, the other tenant and myself) decided to clean out the garden shed so that I could fit some of my stuff in there... and in there in the back behind all the other tenant's mess...was an old rabbit hutch... but by that time I had already bought myself an outdoor hutch which my boys were already living in. Still would have liked to use the shed-hutch at one point since it might be easier to keep them warm in there, but we need the shed for storage so it remains unused to this day.

waterbottles dont have a limit to how big it can be. also they probably used the bowl that is harder to knock over so the hamster couldnt knock the bowl filled with water over, and make a mess.
