Hello, Step 1: To begin with, if you are completely new to Duolingo, then start by understanding all the question types and test pattern. You can invest 1 to 2 days into doing that. Step 2: Next couple of days, begin by looking at strategies that are required to answer each and every question type. You can do that by checking out my practice test and understanding how I answer each question type. This will help you to get the feeling of how the certified test will be as it will be time based. Hello, So, for the last 2 questions (Speaking + Writing) that are sent out to your university should not be treated different than the regular speaking and writing question. Make sure you understand the writing and speaking question. Secondly, make sure that you answer what is being asked. For example, if there are 3 sub question in a question, make sure that you are answering them specifically at first. Learn few synonyms, so that you can add variety of words in your answer to show off vocabulary. Try to learn some linking words as they would make your sentences complex. try forming your answer in the Intro+Main idea +conclusion for both speaking and writing answer. Basically, check out how I form the writing answer in my current and other practice test videos.

Hello, Ideally it is always recommended to switch off all the devices other than your desktop/laptop. But If it just happened once throughout the test. I believe they shouldn't create the problem. Just be positive and wait for your results. All the best.

I keep on getting 130 -145 in my Duolingo practice tests for the past 12 mock tests and the last two practice test 135-145? How much can I expect in the real exam as on 19th March 2024. I need 130 score to be eligible and accepted for a university and I am applying to. Please answer this query, I am giving my final exam tomorrow or in about 2 days.

Hello, The score of 130-145 is a very good score in my opinion. The practice test cannot be used as a benchmark to guess the score in the certified test. Instead it gives you an idea of how you should perform on the certified test to to get the score you are aiming for. In your case, considering your performance on practice test, There are high chances that you'll achieve your score if you perform the same on your certified test. All the best for your exam.

Yes, it can be used for your certified test. However, it is not recommended by DET team because of its network reliability. Mobile hotspots can be really problematic at times. And for some test like DET, where any network issues may lead to invalidation.

Hello, 90-100 is a decent score. If you are aiming for 110, I you can achieve it by making few changes to your answers. Start making changes to speaking and writing answers. Have structure to your answer like Introduction -> Main Idea -> conclusion. use linking words like however, moreover, etc See my all pratice test videos and try to answer the way I do. this would definitely increase your score. Hello, For writing, my advice is to follow a structure while writing an answer (Intro, main idea, conclusion). Secondly, don't drift away from asked question. and lastly, check out my videos where I have shared writing ideas on some topics like Arts, Business, Environment etc. For fill in the blanks, I would suggest you work on increasing vocabulary. additionally, read the entire sentence quickly as it would help you to understand what possible words can be in the blanks.

110 is a good score. But since your score requirement is 115, just make some changes to answers mostly in speaking and writing. This will surely improve your score by 5 to 10. Unfortunately, I do not provide personal coaching. I share out all the materials that I have, and I know here on KZfaq.

Hello, I think that with hard work and lots of practice you should be able to achieve what you are looking for. However, if it is possible in 1 month completely depends on how well you are adapting the new changes. Mainly students face issues with achieving good production score. In that case, make sure you understand the writing and speaking question. Secondly, make sure that you answer what is being asked. Hello, Score of 130-140 in practice test is very good score. If you want to edge to 150, I believe working on pronunciation of words and using complex grammar could help you. Also, try to produce more in the given time, as they look and mark you for content as well. Hope that helps.

Hello, 110 is a good score. But I think it depends on the university or college that you are planning to apply. You need to check if their English language requirement matches your score.

To be honest, sometimes I don't understand the method which they have, I haven't done the test, conversaly , I have done the free test and I got 90-100, that was a good score ?

Hello, 90-100 in practice test is a decent score in my opinion. Most of the universities and colleges In the US and Canada have the minimum score requirement of 120. So if you are targeting universities in the US or Canada, then it's better to have a score of 120. You can achieve that by making some changes to the answer. Try to check my videos on how to score high in writing and speaking. And watch my other practice test videos where I scored 150 to get an idea on how to construct your answer.

Hello, So, you should always use just one account while logging in to your DET account. Since you already signed in with your google account, you should only use that account to give your test. Are you planning to give your exam on application or DET website?

Few things to remember, Make sure that you look at screen for the entire duration of test. You can look at keyboard while typing, But for rest on screen. Make sure to close all the application from task manager before starting test. Just believe in your preparation and you should be good. Lastly, keep a piece of identification(Passport) with you. Hello, So, the practice test's just gives you an idea on how the certified test will be. Score on practice test don't guarantee the score in certified test. It helps you understand that if you perform the same on certified test as you do on practice test, you can achieve the same level of scores.

Hello, The score of 95 to 110 is decent. If you make some changes to your current answers, I feel that you can edge up your score by to around 120. I would recommend you practice individual question types by using the strategies that I mentioned in my previous videos. Secondly, focus on structuring your answers for Writing and Speaking parts. By adding simple structure like Intro, main idea and conclusion, and using some linking words in Moreover, additionally etc. can increase your score. If you don't have a hard commitment to give your test in 4 days, I suggest you practice more and get your practice test score to the score that you are aiming. Hope that helps.

Hello, I think there are many resources available for free and paid where you could learn grammar. The one that I use is Basic Grammer in use. You can find it on amazon. In regard to DET, start working on combining sentences to make them complex, learn how to use linking words and some common things like punctuation and vocabulary.

Hello, The new question will not be part of the certified test until 2nd April 2024. So you should be good with that. I believe 120-130 consistently in practice test is a good score. Just believe in your preparation and make sure you give your best without getting nervous on certified test. You'll surely do good. All the best.

Hello, Looking at your current score, I feel that you can edge up in your production score. Try to have structure(Intro + main idea + conclusion) in your answer for speaking. Don't go off topic a lot. Try to use some linking words like however, Moreover, etc. to make your sentence long and complex. Try to add more ideas to your answer. Try out above things in your practice test and that should increase your production score. all the best.

Hello, To go from 90 to 100, you just need to make the changes that are mentioned below. Use the basic framework to your writing answers Intro + main idea + conclusion. Stop using same words again and again, Instead use synonyms to show variety in vocabulary. Fir speaking, speak at slow speed and speak clearly. if possible, use less pauses. Hope that helps.

Hello, From the reason they provided, I believe that your test was not certified because of some technical glitch. Hence they have offered you to give one more attempt for free. I have seen these cases quite a few number of times. I am not sure if they have any number that you call. But they have good customer support over chat. Hello, So once you purchase the test, you have to appear for test within 21 days of purchase date. After 21 days, your purchased test becomes invalid and you'll have to repurchase it. Hope that helps.

@@dewbhatia3830 Hello, No, you won't be able to use ChatGPT for this exam. The DET exam tool can catch anything that's running in the background which could lead to invalidation. Besides, you could even get blacklisted from giving exam again.

Hello, 100 is a decent score. If you scored less because of writing, then start by structuring your answers correctly. Make sure that you are not going off topic while writing.
