So here is Worthing Watersports review of the latest full boom wing from Duotone. The Duotone Slick 2024 in normal construction.
This wing is also available in Aluula (D/LAB) and the new eco conscious Blue Concept undyed canopy.
I was a little reluctant to go back to a boom after having used the Duotone Units for some time now. As I do a lot of water sports, including kitesurfing and windsurfing, finding time to flat water wing is limited. However I was really pleased I went back on a boomed wing. Coming from a windsurfing background it feels so natural.
I believe boomed wings are best for beginners, windsurfers, flatter and/or gustier conditions. This includes racing! and if you use a harness a lot.
The Duotone Slick 2024 is an evolution from the

Duotone Slick SLS
Duotone Slick 2023
Constructed of MOD3 canopy material. The Duotone Slick 2024 is stronger and more durable than the SLS. The MOD3 material also handles gusts better making the wing more stable.
The 2024 is different to the duotone slick 2023 because the canopy layout is quite different. They have also tweaked the front strut and rear shape to be more powerful at the bottom end.
The duotone Slick compared to the Duotone Unit
The Duotone slick is best for gusty conditions and flater water.
The Duotone Unit is mainly a wave orientated wing.
However all wings have lots of overlap! They can all be used for anything, they just have their individual pros and cons.
