3:14 The clip is from the 1984 documentary Sing Blue Silver. Simon had shown up for soundcheck earlier with his arm in a sling telling the band he had sprained his arm and would have to wear the sling for 2 weeks during their tour. It was a practical joke. In the clip he suddenly takes off the sling to show the band his arm is just fine. Andy was in on the joke but not the rest of the band. Cheeky Simon! 😂

Back in the 80s, my friends and I used to make audio (and later video) compilations like this (calling them stuff like: 'Duran's Funniest Moments'). It's always so much fun, as the guys can be REALLY hilarious! 🤪

The clip you didn't know what was going on is from "Sing Blue Silver documentary" (Behind the scenes) Simon played a practical joke on the rest of the band (and crew) pretending he slipped on the ice and dislocated his elbow. In the clip Simon reveals it was all a practical joke

the 3:17 clip: simon made up a story that he fell the night before and spent all morning in the er with a broken elbow/arm- that would take weeks to heal, so then right before the concert he just took off the sling & everyone (mainly john) was bamboozled, silly simon !

There are a few of the same sources in there, like the bit with the Red jacket, and the bit where John says "Cheeky!" regarding his chest hairs, but this ties in later in the film, when his chest hairs make a cameo appearance. I really dont expect the audience to get that joke, but there you go.

I always enjoyed the fact they remembered to try & keep that fun element within Duran Duran & though Yes many various substances were used but i dont think ivr ever seen an interview or clip when you can tell that either 1 of them is completely wasted & even IF they still found humour in what was going on around them... In light of this still ongoing coronavirus and its variants stay safe and healthy wherever you are in this world... .....
