This is about Simon's childhood friend who died. It has meaning to people who survive things in this not ordinary world...
@matheusqc5405 Жыл бұрын
Where did you get that from? It's always been clear to everyone that this song's about how their 80s fame "faded" in the 90s, thus making him question "where is the life that i recognize?" and calling this new life of "not being famous" as "ordinary world".

@@matheusqc5405The lead singer talked about this in a documentary. He felt so haunted by his friends death and it happened during the time the band was at a crossroads. He wrote these lyrics himself and the process in the studio to make this song according to the producer was like watching magic. They knew it would save the band from the financial problems. So in a sense his grief saved the band.

I will turn 50 this year and Duran Duran's music was a big part of my childhood. This is also my favorite of there's and when it came out it blew up the charts and is timeless. I always wanted to see them in concert and am psyched because I'll be seeing them later this month in Fort Worth, Texas and I cannot wait!
@kerrylake47517 ай бұрын
How was the concert?? I saw them for the second time in Detroit last September and they were awesome! ❤ (And how amazing & energetic were Chic?)
@planojag5957 ай бұрын
@@kerrylake4751 It was a great concert and as we were there watching a band singing/playing songs that I grew up watching on Mtv I had to remind myself that it was really happening. I was really there watching Simon and the boys in concert. Yeah, they're older and not all of the band stayed together but most of them did and Simon can still sing well so we loved it! As far as Chic, I guess I really didn't know how many hits they had or how influential Nile Rodgers' funk style had become but once Nile began playing songs he had written/co-written, composed and/or produced I was shocked. The list goes on and on.

Love this song so much. You should react to Come Undone Unplugged, the female singer Lamya was amazing and unfortunately passed at a young age. These are my 2 favorite songs of theirs ❤

That last verse meant in the grand scheme of things going on in the world, his sorrow is just a small thing. It's nothing when you really compare it to the bigger problems of the world.

"Ordinary World" is one of Duran Duran's best songs. It was one of their 90s come back hits, along with "Come Undone". I also love "Out of my Mind" and "Do you believe in shame?" Maybe you can react to those next?

I have been a huge Duran Duran fan since 1982. Right now, I have been trying to find my Ordinary World for the last 2 years as on April 30th, 2022, I lost my beloved cat Jerry to cancer 3 days before his 14th birthday, what made it hard for me was for 4 weeks prior I was in a bad car accident and spent 3 weeks in the hospital in the ICU, so I only had only 1 week before I had to put him down, then 3 and half months later his brother Kramer passed away, I believe from a broken heart. I had raised them from kittens at 4 weeks old. I miss them dearly, especially around this time of year. They were my best friends. 😢

Sorry for your loss, I had to put down my car David, shed lots of tears. I couldn't contemplate a replacement so bought a budgie, 2 years later and he's my new best friend.

Ordinary World is 93, also known as the second coming of DD. A different guitarist and a more “mature” sound. The 80s heyday sound and style were somewhat behind them at this point, however, it will ALWAYS be a part of Duran Duran. Don’t get too used to any particular style or sound with this band, they tend to switch things up a lot. I do highly recommend Do You Believe in Shame. Great song, and the first level of this trilogy. They got the order wrong in what you were reading, OW is the second in the trilogy, not the last.

Thank you for your interesting insight and for giving me the right order ☺️

Not the last in the trilogy, ‘Out of My Mind” came later in 1997. But all three songs are gorgeous and show how someone deals with loss even years later. ‘Ordinary World’ was a big turning point for the band. It was the early ‘90s, they had a new guitarist, and their last couple of albums hadn’t done well. So this was an opportunity to start fresh. They had a studio set up in the guitarist’s home and took their time with this album (self-titled but nicknamed ‘The Wedding Album’ because of the cover art.) Other great songs to check out from this album are ‘Come Undone’ and ‘Too Much Information’.

I'm a major Duran Duran fan to this day. Duran Duran's self-titled studio album debuted in 1981. Followed by Rio in 1982 which solidified them world wide. Duran Duran: Simon Le Bon- vocals, Nick Rhodes- synthesizer, John Taylor- bass, Andy Taylor- guitar, Roger Taylor- drums. Side projects: Arcadia: Simon Le Bon, Nick Rhodes, John Taylor The Power Station: John Taylor, Andy Taylor, Robert Palmer, Tony Thompson.

No. He was reflecting on the sorrow he felt about the pride he had before his friend died. His friend was now gone forever, and he only sensed their ghost. Now, he had to learn to find his way back to the "ordinary world", even though he still suffers through the grief. He's only forcing himself to "not cry for yesterday".

1997's album release by Duran Duran, called "Medazzaland" contains the brilliant song "Out of My Mind". Medazzaland also possesses some of the most brilliant Duran Duran musical efforts pertaining to the 90's era for the band. The following record by way of Duran Duran is named "Pop Trash", and it is a fantastic album in my opinion as well. 🙂
