Thanks for this, Rowdy! Sox fan here since my folks moved us to Boston from California in 1966. I walked into Fenway for the first time that year and never looked back. Pedey just now hung up his spikes, and I'm feeling moody about that. He deserved more time as our 2B, but the injuries just wouldn't let that happen. He personified the Sox in his time as much as Yaz did in his time. He really loved the Red Sox and us, the fans, and was literally out there trying to give us more than he had on every play because he respected us, the fans of the Red Sox. That just blows my mind. People who say pro athletes are just in it for the money have never seen or heard this guy. The time that Pedey and Papi spent together on the Sox gave us a core level of competitiveness and talent that may never show up in the same place in my lifetime.

The most underrated player of 2016

I truly believe that Dustin exemplified what a ballplayer should be. Much respect for Dustin.

I chose #15 because of him and how we are kind of alike. I'm 14 at 5'2" starts at second every Game and shortstop every now and then. Always diving to try and make the play. Giving all I've got on every play. Only difference is I switch hit.

I miss those summer games

To think in 2006 when he was brought up, he wasn't impressing anyone. Even Pedroia himself was discouraged, he had 89 AB's and 17 hits for a .191 average, but Francona saw something in him. The very next year he wins ROY and the following year MVP. Pedroia played the game the way it was supposed to be played! Played hard and hustled!
