It's wrong for the interviewer to make out Islam doesn't really respect Poirer. If you watch the interview Islam clearly mentions fighting Poirer helps build his resume and legacy because the guy (Poirer) is a legend. It's funny how reporters will twist things for a click.

He clearly mentions that fighting Poirer would be great for his legacy because Poirer is a legend in the sport. Hence the comment we are making is why do some of these interviewers twist he response from Islam (this is regardless whether the interviewer is a man or a woman).

What a weird comment from Dustin. The current champion of the division publicly says he'll give him the next shot at the title, with zero shade or negativity involved. What goes through Dustin's head that makes him think the proper, or correct response is, "I've done more in this sport than he has." I like Dustin, but sometimes he's just so arrogant, and ignorant. Islam has the belt, and has defended it twice now, while Dustin has never had it.

Why do people like you only know to look what's directly in front of you? Dustin and a handful of fighters laid the foundation of what the UFC is now today, at the era where fighting gets u paid absolute garbage. Yet they still went through slaughter houses of fighters and risked their brain cells in the UFC octagon. Oliveira is a great competitor, outside of that Volk is a 145er, who arguably beat him on 11 days notice, then got finished next go around. He’s not fought Poirier, Chandler, Gaethje, Fiziev, Gamrot. Not sure. I think Poirier did good, to my surprise, against BSD who is a very good grappler. I know Islam is not BSD but Poirier's defense in that fight somehow gives me some hope for an upset. Remember the last two fights for the belt, he came close of KO to Oliveira and even Nurmagomedov. If he can survive submission, Poirier can KO anyone in this category.

You're right, he doesn't deserve the title shot. But, Islam called him out. the timing is the issue, Islam wants to fight and the rest of the contenders are tied up. I think for the sake of the division, it's better for Islam to fight DP and then whoever was next in line, gets the shot. No one is getting skipped really, Islam os just getting a fight in before he fights who really is next. Just Mty .02

this fight put BSD on the map. he's gonna improve and come back better than before, probably with more cardio. on top of that, BSD hadn't lost in the 5 fights prior to this one, so you can't blame him for handling a loss poorly. he's less experienced at losing. BSD top 5 lightweights early 2026 if he wins a fight this year.

@canuckissuperior By that logic, every fighter who loses should get an immediate rematch since EVERYONE has something going on. Like Dustin said, he's gone into fights with staph, fractures, lacerations, etc. He never whined about it. Khabib went into his final match with a broken toe

So whats gonna be the main event for 301 in 🇧🇷 if Alex loses to Hill? It should have been the rematch between Charles and Islam since Charles beat both Dustin and Justin already. And a title eliminator between Gaethje and Arman Tsarukyan but of course that leaves Dustin without an opponent. The only other option would be a trilogy with Dustin and Justin for the BMF belt. Arman could face the winner of Islam/Charles 2 or rematch Gamrot in another title eliminator.
