Okay, I think I owe some form of an explanation for myyyy checks calendar 6-month absence- holy moly. For the past few months, I've been struggling a lot with my mental health. I was recently diagnosed with ADHD and have also been dealing with extreme bouts of depression and mood swings that come without warning. I also came down with the virus over New Year's and dealt with the long symptoms for weeks after my fever subsided. All of this led me to isolate myself from college, friends, and also my music. I think there were probably a good (bad?) 4 months where I just straight up didn't even bother to do so much as open FL Studio. It's something that I have been continuously working on and while it's taken a lot of therapy and personal will I think I am now at a place where I am (relatively) stable.
I came back to try to start writing music again about 3 weeks ago and the first thing I started working on was this track. True to the theme of these past 6 months writing this track was a struggle. I found myself constantly stopping and starting and restarting and working and nothing seemed to sound quite right. The composition is rather non-complex yet it seemed to take everything I had to write something that sounded cohesive. That's when the track name hit me. Purgatory. A temporary suffering that I had to endure so I could reach a final product that would bring me joy. I thought that fit the theme of what I was going through quite well and that inadvertently became one of the main inspirations for this track.
Overall, this track took me around 25 hours of going back and forth and re-working the drops multiple times (fun fact I have like 6 versions of this project file saved on my desktop lmao). Perhaps this isn't the most impressive track to upload as a comeback after 6 months but nonetheless, it's what I made, and technically impressive or not it's a special track to me. I truly hope you enjoy it ❤️

I’m really proud of you for being able to get back into working after taking so many blows Storm, and don’t worry about the song’s quality, I think the backstory fits it perfectly! I hope you make a full recovery soon and I’m excited to listen to the next tracks ❤ Edit: I forgot to mention that I also have ADHD, it’s really nice to be able to relate to someone you look up to :)

That fits Dusttale SO WELL. The piano is powerful to leave a chill down my spine. It’s like realizing that you can’t go back to what it was anymore. Sans is lost in a spiral of insanity with no way out. Good shit, Stormheart!

I'm truly grateful that you came back to us despite your recent diagnosis. I love your music and one day I hope that I too will be able to write masterpieces like this! I am currently studying music and art and I am an avid animator! I really hope that you feel better soon!! Take your time with updates, and remember that even if you disappear off the map, we'll still wait for you! I really like the vibes this song gives with the somber piano and carefully planned out drop, like descending into madness. If only madness were this much fun to listen to in real life. QuQ I recently caught some sort of sickness (Probably Covid-19) and have had to stay home from school for the past week (Caught it Tuesday last week). Glad you’re back, Stormheart! :D As for the description; I kind of had the same thing lately, just with an autism diagnosis. One thing that really helped me was just knowing the fact that it doesn’t make you any different now that you’ve been diagnosed. If anything, it can be helpful! With a diagnosis you can get accommodations, and since you now know what makes you ‘different’ you can work on stuff that might be interfering with daily life. Sorry, I didn’t mean to write an entire paragraph, haha.. I really like how the song turned out, great job! ❤

Yes! The purpose of my seeking a diagnosis was to essentially get more specific accommodations for college, and they;'ve been helping quite a lot!

As someone with ADHD for starters; welcome to the club. And I can definitely relate to your struggle to stay on a project. I have the same exact issues with my schoolwork and art sketches. It’s quite annoying honestly.

I don't make music but I do write sometimes. And yeah it does take me a year to come up with something to write. I haven't even got myself tested yet on what's going on in my head. But every time I look at that thing I wrote it brings a smile to my face knowing that I did that. It's kind of satisfying to just look at all the work that you did.
