These working ranch hands are not used to rodeo bucking livestock but they do their best to hang on for eight seconds using their own saddles normally used on the ranches. #CCCRR #BroncRiding #Rodeo #RanchRodeo
Fourteen working cattle ranches compete for honors at the Coors Cowboy Club Ranch Rodeo in Amarillo, Texas. Each invited ranch competes as a team and only the 12 top teams will be invited back the following year.
All the events in this rodeo reflect the type of skills used by working cowboys on cattle ranches throughout the year. The ages and experience of the team members may vary quite a bit as these are not professional rodeo cowboys.

@ 1:40 - the score is 89 points for this ride. The guy is hanging onto the saddle with his free hand. How is that not a disqualification?

@@Rburnett46 All sanctioned ranch rodeos require the use of a working ranch saddle with a roping horn and all the saddles are inspected. Pro-rodeo saddles do not have a horn but they have large swells on the upper front that the riders can use with their legs to help stay in the saddle. So the working ranch cowboys are allowed to hang onto the horn only to help save their family jewels but no other part of the saddle.

@@Rburnett46 Allowed in ranch bronc riding rules. He is also riding a regular working ranch saddle with a roping horn, also required. No markout is required. Watch some of my ranch rodeo bronc rides as those differences are often mentioned by the announcer for the benefit of those who are not familiar with ranch rodeo rules and events such as those defined by the #WRCA

Wow, this is way more fun to watch than Bull riding. The horses are gorgeous. It seems the riders just get whichever horse they are randomly given, or does each ranch bring their own horses? Some seem much stronger and wilder than others.

All sanctioned rodeos use bucking stock contractors who provide the horses. All riders participate in a draw for the horses they will ride. The horses with the best bucking skills usually wind up going to pro rodeos while the smaller and easier horses are used in ranch rodeos.

it’s a lifestyle my dads family wasn’t a cowboy family but he rides bulls and he was good so it’s a lifestyle so if you can go find out a place to learn go! we now have cows and i am getting into the rodeo life

It’s not animal abuse lol, they care so much for these horses more than you think they do. The reason they’re bucking is likely because they’re not saddle broken and not used to a rider on their back nothing about it is abuse LOL

Seems cruel to me makes me sad these creatures are not having a happy time. I am not sure what the point of these Rodeo’s. A horse sitting down or laying down I was told means they are not feeling well or are extremely stressed. I am also saddened by bullfighting. Horses are so beautiful I would never want to make them sad or harm them or even stress them out. These animals are being caused stress for entertainment. Not cool ;(
