Dutch Girl Saves the Day in Tilburg

Күн бұрынTodays destination is Tilburg in the Netherlands. This city might not be on every tourist list of places to visit in the Netherlands so I decided to go and check it out. I got kicked out of the famous library to see the lochal and almost everything else was closed until a Dutch girl approached me because she was curious as to why I was speaking to my camera, long story short she ended up giving me a tour of the city and explaining much of the history of the city and even got me back into the library I wanted to show you guys in the first place.
Big thanks to Joana (sorry if I spelled it wrong) for giving me a tour of the city. Finally Tilburg does have some interesting things to see and do, you jsut gotta dig deep and find them.

You did the right thing to come to Tilburg. The Netherlands is so much more then Amsterdam! You've sound THE perfect touring guide and that lady represents the general mood and athmosphere of the people that live in the south of Netherlands , friendly, kind and always in for a talk.

Thank you Volpe for visiting my hometown. Joanna was a wonderful charming guide. When this covid oppression is over, you should come back in springtime and join us for a beer on the many terraces under the trees or in the sun. Tilburg has an industrial past that left behind these charming rough edges. It's not metropolitan or cosmopolitan (thank god for that). It's more like a big village with a lot of friendly people like Joanna.

In this town in 1978 I was starting the Militaire Dienst , at that time you were forced to have a 14 month periode in the militaire service,.., in Tilburg was De Kromhout Kazerne, a trainings centre to get your Licenses as a truckdriver, after 2 months I was able to pas the exam and since then I have all my trucklicence s . the next 12 months I was driving on all kind of army vehicles in Vught.

If you want to try the BEST ice cream in Tilburg (possibly in NL) you should go to the Piushaven to a place called Vittorio Perzisch Ijs. It's really unique and is also takeaway/food truck :)

@@idfkman7217 Because it isn't considered to be the most beautiful city in the Netherlands, to say the least. Imo it's a very nice, lively city with a great atmosphere and many bars/cafés/restaurants. And people are nice and welcoming. It's my favourite city, but then I live here so I'm biased

At 10:07 she is talking about Tilburgers being Kruikezeikers, at 1:07 the statue is a stautue of a Kruikenzeiker. Kruikezeiker translates to Jar pisser.

The urine contains ammonia what was used for making the fabrics soft(er). That's is why people pissed in a 'kruik'.

Wow, so many responses about how Volpe is joined by Joanna. I have several female friends. They even stay over for the night sometimes just to have a bro/sis weekend. And the boyfriends (in some cases) are totally ok with that too. Not sure why so many people trip over the fact that a woman is guiding a man (let alone being friends?!). The other way around would also work just fine. In The Netherlands it's just a common thing I think.

Next time in Holland, come visit ‘Breda’ again! 😎 We have more beatutifull things to see and experience. Like sailing on the canals, climbing the tower of our great church (De grote Kerk van Breda) and visit Rat Verlegh Stadium watch a football game from our team NAC Breda 💛🖤 Do not forget our hood ‘Ginneken’ 💚 You can drink Ginnekenwine. And at the end of May 2022 we have the 50th anniversary of Breda Jazz Festival one of the greatest in Europe. All kind of music like Jazz, Blues, Latin and Rock n Roll.

You should go to the provinces Friesland and Groningen in the Netherlands. And maybe also to the Islands (Texel and so.) And maybe also to the fisherman's city Volendam. And to the beach in Scheveningen. And maybe also try the wines in Limburg.

Also you have not tried many of the snacks yet, literally many of dozens of snacks you have not tried yet, some fried snacks you have not tried yet are macaronischijf, gelderse schijf and broodje frikandel met mayo and a frietje rotzooi (fries with garbage) ;) Febo is good quality and fast and good value, and even with their own unique things such as the grill sauce for the burgers and good vegetarian burgers, but there are many dozens more snacks that you can't get at the febo. :) Too many to name really, another one is the javaanse frikandel, gehaktbal uit jus, vlammetjes, kaaskroketten or kaasbitterballen (these are not likethe kaassouffles) ;) gehaktbal satesaus, lihanboutje, and many more. Come on guys, add to this list what other things i have missed to mention. ;)

Actually Santa Claus is the American version of Sinterklaas. Not the other way around! Sinterklaas was the inspiration for Santa Claus. They even copied his name. Sinterklaas => Santerklaus => Santa Claus.

La Trappe brouwerij en klooster zijn in Berkel-Enschot eigenlijk, niet in Tilburg. Maar goed, dat is wel erg dichtbij natuurlijk:)

@@mariadebake5483 gemeente tilburg he. Voor toeristen is tilburg de achtertuin van Amsterdam. Tilburg zelf heeft weinig te bieden,waardoor het de omgeving promoot. Efteling, la trappe, beekse bergen, loonse duinen etc.

You have to visit Maastricht and Aachen. Maastricht because it is the most undutch city in the Netherlands and Aachen because of its rich history with Emperor Charlemagne.
