Diana, Princess of Wales, one of the most loved and admired figures in recent history, whose story captivated the nation and whose tragic death caused a global outpouring of public grief. Her butler and confidant, Paul Burrell, provides us with his insight into the real Diana, in her lonely hours behind palace doors. From the moment he met Diana, he instinctively knew she was destined for great things, and he stood at her side and offered his support and loyalty as she went on to become the people’s princess.
Dedicated to serving Diana, both in life and in death, Paul shares his very personal story.

One of the best documentaries on princess Diana, if not the best! It is so good to know, that she had at least one true friend. Someone who didn’t used and didn’t betrayed her. Someone who truly cared and accompanied her, all the way, in all times. My heart is with her children who have to live with their loss and that heritage.

I think that the way they presented her to the world back then and even know was not correct, like "you were just a nanny and now you'll marry a Prince" I mean, she was the daughter of an Earl. She came from one of the oldest aristocratic families in the land. Her family had been very close to royalty for generations. I've even read the Spencers have more history that the Windsors.

Earl Spencer and Paul Burell are my favorite storytellers about Diana, Always ver thoughtful. Paul and the chauffer were the first ones from Diana’s team to arrive in Paris after Diana’s death, the way they adore her is true testament of how wonderful she was. She was a princess and she trated her staff as her friends and family. Most rich and famous people are rude to their staff.

I wish for the whole world to watch this. As someone of Diana's age who marvelled in her romance & wedding and watched her turn into a Princess & mother, later being a journalist following the implosion of her marriage, her many humiliations - often knowing things long before it surfaced in the media - and her untimely death, nothing makes me more angry than the historic revisionism of late about who she truly was and what really happened during those years. The people involved should be ashamed of vilifying a lovely human being long gone and unable to defend herself, the mother of a near future king, for God's sake!. This is such a raw & heart-warming account of the truth. Thank you, Paul Burrell. And I hope William remembers his promise to restore her dignity and give back the three letters they stripped from her in a final act of royal spite: HRH...Diana, Princess of Wales, Mother of King William V. (Although, I always fancied the idea of King William Arthur...joining his parents favourite names and bringing them together again in his reign.)

My father was a close protection officer to the princess, so I knew her well. I can echo Paul's words in that she truly did love people, so took a real active interest in people. She gave me a gold fountain pen when I passed my GCSEs. I can honestly say I loved her as a person. I will however never forget my father saying, how shocked he was that her close protection by the police was taken away. He feared for her safety and made recommendations for her private security. I'm 99% sure if she had never lost her police close protection, she would still be with us today. I have my memories of her and il never forget them. She was a truly special woman and we lost a truly beautiful person. Xx

I’m currently in a relationship such as this and NO, while it may seem that two people who function SO WELL together , that some clandestine “love” must be happening. It’s simply not true. It’s called “respect” for each other. Trust me. It took me a while to figure out why people questioned whether I was “fucking my boss”. Him and I simply work so well together. And yes, I would consider our relationship “intimate”. When you spend half a day with each other and the relationship works well, that’s what it becomes; he trusts me and I trust him. And yea, people have questioned our relationship at work and created rumours. Those died very quickly by actions on both our parts. But yes, I love the man. He IS my better half during half of my life really. He has become my confidante, my best friend. But in NO WAY have I become in love with him, nor he to me. When you have both respect and trust, such intimate relationships by the opposite sex can happen. And I’ve never considered sleeping with my boss. Quite frankly I find it such silliness that others have.

She was tall, the Queen(mummy) wanted tall in the family. Actually Diana was more PRINCESS that was why she natural knew how to carry herself knew just how to place her arms & hands she was born into it. With the royal blood lines in her family. where as monkey was clumsy, look out of place, he's a prince in name only. He's a sick man with mummy issues 😤👎

This was the first time I really had the feeling that maybe she was murdered, so that Charles could marry. Actually he didn't need to be a widower to marry, and in fact technically he wasn't as a divorced man, but I suspect they still had this erroneous idea that by her death it would pave the way for him to marry that woman more easily than if she were still alive. If its not true then I'm sorry for the suggestion; but if it is true, I hope those involved will eventually 'pay' for their sins.

Paul is leaving out a lot here. That journalist faked documents and falsify bank statements to upset Diana. How Paul can skip that I don't know. They were both cheating on each other. Diana was an amazing lady, we all live her still. Diana was human as we all are and made mistakes too. Diana would be furious with Paul, saying how HE was the one telling her how to dress when Charles did his interview. Diana was beautiful spirit and lives on in hour hearts forever. The press killed her, and if we are not careful Paul will cause another situation with his mouth. Paul was gay, and hiding that from his wife. Times change....

Uh, does anyone else feel a tad bit uncomfortable with how obsessed he was with her? Boy, "I, I, I, I". He's making it about him. He was in her shadow in life yet exploits her in death, to show himself as an obsessive, and frankly a star f&^ker. Quite disturbing esp at the end. Then he pilfered her belongings. "I told the queen I'm taking 'some things' for the boys for safekeeping." Um, how does her underwear and clothing come into that? Not to mention all the other boxes of her belongings. Yep, he's weird, and he sold her out in death to exploit her. Shame on you, Paul Burrel, shame on you. Diana would be mortified.

I'm with you on this. Diana would be mortified. He is a snake and to mention that reporter who faked documents to upset and push her into doing the interview that totally destroyed her marriage. He was her servant and yet makes himself to be the king. To speak that way to then Prince of Wales, when he had two grief stricken children. Just speechless

See the distasteful expression on Charles face, when Diana was asked about being a nanny to now marrying the Prince of Wales. He had no love for Diana, and we all know what his preference would have been. Why he would choose Mrs Bowels over lovely Diana !,,, Mrs Bowels had hidden talents, disgraceful ❤️🌹Thank you for being there for her, you truely were her knight in royal armour❤️🌹🙏🇬🇧

I've often wondered about that letter princess Diana wrote. About her husband planning a car accident for her, so monkey could remarry. What in the world did William and Harry think of it. It wasn't 2ed hand, their Mother wrote it!

That reporter had faked documents making Diana upset and paranoid. Prince William brought his mother justice. He said he never wanted it shown again. Because it was faked and Diana was manipulated.

Rubbish, he had a mother, Diana was just so beautiful yet had a troubled upbringing, with her mother leaving her father. We are all flawed in some ways and Diana did not hesitate to say yes to his proposal. The nowKing Charles III was at the time the most eligible bachelor in the world. Diana and Charles had a great relationship after they divorced. He was an experienced statesman. Cambridge educated highly intelligent man. Who accomplished so much, with the princes' trust. Over 1 million helped by that charity he set up. I'm starting to think that Princess Diana would have been far better off without Paul as her butler. The reporter was able to fake documents and Paul was bringing him in. That reporter made Diana so paranoid, without him stirring it up. Diana would never have done that interview. This really shows Paul in a v bad light. Prince William had that reporter exposed for the manipulative nasty piece of work he was. Prince William did not want thar ever brought up again, yet here Paul is upsetting Diana's child now an adult. Neither of Diana's children will speak to him. He was lying to his wife all the time as he was gay anyway.

@fahimfaisalmahir567 that's how Paul represents it. Making himself the big hero. Princess Diana was a true pioneer of her time. She made Aids patients not feared. As the public fear was not to touch them. Her humanitarian work was outstanding. Her role in life was to help people and bring attention to those in need. At first, she was terrified of the hugh crowds. Prince Charles as he was then. Gave her confidence, and she was a hugh success. Charles cried in that hospital room as he prayed with her two sisters. Charles insisted Diana got the royal family state funeral. Charles was devastated and brought Diana home a princess of Wales. The state funeral was that prepared for the Queen mother. Paul makes it sound as if only he was there. Plus her uk guard driver was the one originally who saw her eyelashes move. Princess Diana was a very strong woman, v determined and confident. Though that reporter had faked up documents, to make her do the interview. To make her paranoid and upset. To hear Paul trying to take all the credit makes me sick. Lady Diana was an aristocratic family. Her sister dated Charles. Paul knows what he is doing here, I'm not surprised that Charles was upset with him. Looks like he was conniving to cause rift between their marriage. Charles did leave Camilla alone and tried with his marriage. Both Diana and Charles were flawed as we all are.

And all these years later the world still remember and still talks about her. I wonder how charles and camilla feel cuz even in death she will always come between them and they can never escape and Diana was just publicly flawless and perfect no puffy lips no boob job no lipo just natural and just beautiful. She was and still is the one true queen of England. Imagine what it wouldve been like if England had her as a queen. To the people of England, I am sorry you had to endure her demise. Charles created that whole situation and Camilla was most present to reap the benefits.
