I'm doing well at work, smiling with my family, and doing well on the outside. But in fact, a month has passed since the relationship ended while trying to protect a difficult partnership to regain the lost love. I endure every day with great psychological anxiety and internal pain of personal separation. Then I met this video, and little by little, my mind came back to reality and I am finding stability. Thanks a lot. I'll live well again.

Great testimonies! Triumph over wickedness is the song our bodies can sing when love reigns in our heart! Music inspires us! Consider also (among many others) Bach BWV 82, “I have enough” … I have taken the saviour the hope of the righteous into my eager arms. I have enough, I have beheld him. My faith has pressed Jesus into my heart. And now I wish even today with Joy to depart from here.” Blessings (and keep singing!!)!

Thank you for sharing your sincere testimony. I am a Czech woman who loves music and of course Dvořák is our pride. The fact that the concert is full of Czech melodies that Dvořák made so accessible to everyone is remarkable. And the reason may be that the emotional context is strong, universal and unpretentious . Just love it.

I saw Yo-Yo Ma for the first time at UC Berkeley's Zellerbach Hall in the 90s paying only student ticket price for a returned ticket. He collaborated with Merce Cunningham Dance Company playing on the side of the stage in front of balcony seats. The cancelled seat I got was on the balcony only about 10ft away from him. I watched him playing Bach's Cello Suite the whole time, not caring about the dance performances. Truly unforgettable memory. I went to his performances a few times afterward paying full prices but was never that close. Thanks to him, I am an amateur cellist now. What an inspiration!

Once with Emanuel Ax, once with the Silkroad Ensemble, and once with Edgar Meyer and Mark O'Connor, an unforgettable performance not the least because Yo-Yo broke a string live on stage at the finale of "Indecision", my favorite piece from their Appalachian Journey set.

A lot of the best musicians that are experts at their craft, play with so much emotion and that the instrument and the body are almost communicating . This is a perfect example of that. He plays with such joy and admiration for the music itself.

This is the level where technique etc stops being relevant - it's no longer just the music that the performer is conveying to the audience, it's their personality and world view. His music transcends the usual concerns of tone, dynamics, rhythm and delivers warmth, candor, and a genuine sense of care.

Some say Yo-yo Ma, some say Jacqueline du Pre, is the "better" or "greater" of the two. I say both are superb. The true test of a soloist performer playing this piece really comes at 35:30 when the concertmaster takes over the main melodic theme and the soloist needs to step back and let the violinist shine. Many egotistical performers continue to play forte instead of following the partitura, which calls for PP or pianissimo. Yo Yo Ma is one of the most generous cellist and he "owns" the Dvorak concerto. He is truly a jewel of a human being and an artist. A true national treasure.

GenerationKill001 They’re not personal attacks. They’re just good, old-fashioned attacks. It’s not personal to say one is licking one’s boots; rather, it is commenting on how they seem to find no fault in such a man. And while I acknowledge that he is amazing and one of the best cellists ever, he is not as good as Mischa (in my HUMBLE opinion), disrespectful adult.

Wonderful! Passion and power! I was fortunate enough to hear Mr. Ma perform with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra (Wisconsin) many years ago. When the second half of the concert resumed after the intermission, I was amazed to realize that Mr. Ma was sitting in playing with the cello section. I don't think many of the audience even noticed. No mention etc. was brought to the audience's knowledge. I'm 72 and I don't think I've heard of that done before and since. My brother-in-law earned advanced degrees on cello from Northwestern University and recently retired from the Colorado Denver Symphony after 34yrs and 25yrs as the principal cellist in the Colorado Central City Opera Orchestra. My sister was the harp faculty at the University of Colorado-Denver, first call union harpist and played with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra Denver. My mother was an honors graduate in choral conducting and piano at Northwestern University. Toured Europe in the mid-50's as featured vocal soloist accompanying herself on harp with the Dr. James Allen Dash All-America Chorus including performing for Queen Elizabeth II.

The late Jiří Bělohlávek had a very distinguished career, conducted many different orchestras and did an excellent job of conducting this one. In the beginning of the video, the key signature is stated as H moll ( 2 sharps). For those not familiar with this old European notation, this is the same as B minor. When I was a kid in Sweden a C major scale was: C D E F G A H C. A semitone below H was B. So nowadays ( in most countries) the H became B, and the B became B flat. I think in Germany they are still using the older standard. So this piece is in “H moll “ which is as most people nowadays would say “B minor”.
