I own one right now .Its the NT650 Bros. since 2012. The engine is just gold!!! Ive owned the VT 250 Spada as well . It has only done 8000KM and i just noticed after watching this video that it too has the original tires!!! What a Gem. After watching this , I have decided to restore it to its old glory. Thanks a lot David.

I had one of these, the engine was bullet proof and the bike never let me down. I really miss this bike and wish I had never sold it.

Same here... mine was black. I traded mine for a 88 Mustang 5.0 fox body. Loved the car but regret the trade.

That's an accident waiting to happen if you're driving around on the original tyres. I can't believe people forsake safety just to say "oh look - original tyres!"
@gregp1035 жыл бұрын
No one is riding around on those tires, ya Brit twit. It's been in a museum for 25 years. If it's only use is as art original tires are preferred.

I had that exact bike, year, color... Nobody bought these for god knows what reason. I bought mine new in 1992 from a shop that had one sitting in a crate in the back. No idea why this wasnt a huge item. It handled great, but I did need to swap out the front springs because it would nose dive way too much. Also punched out the muffler. Then I took it up to its max speed, which was crazy of me to do. It looked so cool and still does.

Really nice ride. Thank you for keeping it in such immaculate condition. I hope you have many years of fun on your '88. I'm just getting ready to get mine on the road. Its under 200 on the VIN, but lots of parts shot out or missing so no chance of it being an original beauty like yours.

I have the '88 Gray Hawk tucked away in the United States in 1993. Lovely bike in almost all respects. In addition to new tires, please consider PR springs for the front forks and an Ohlins rear shock. Honda skipped on suspension and concentrated on the motor throughout its range. Once you have upgraded these mods, you will have a bike whose handling approaches the Norton featherbed.

I'm a big fan of the SV650, but these Honda hawks have such a cool retro look 😎

Very nice. With the license plate holder re-do, you can't really call it original. I just bought an 88 with 1650 miles on it. The license plate holder is original, and ugly as hell compared to your re-do. My other Hawk also has the redo on the plate holder. That one has 73000 miles on it.

Great bike! Less miles than the 1990 "demo" I purchased in 1992. Wish I hung onto it;(

Lovely Bike, A bad sales agent sold me an unbadged Hawk with Renthal wide bar's back in 2002 when i was looking for a "Learner Legal" NTV 400 Bros. I probably should have known since it was red and looks slightly beefier than it's tamer sibling. Let me tell you...getting to grip's with that thing after riding a mk1 Piaggio X9 250(also powered by Honda) for the previous 2 year's was Terrifying.

So a 400lb, 60hp bike terrified you? Damn.
@rcfanaticdublin3 жыл бұрын
@@joshrandall3632 , It sure did buddy...my previous machine was a MK1 Piaggio X9 also powered by Honda. Jumping from a coushy 250 Scooter to a Street Fighter styled 650 Vtwin. "HECK yeh!!!".

I noticed that youu didn't leave the original tail and license plate holder. So, it does have a modification! Also missing the mirrors.

Love this bike but damn Honda...... what a wimpy motor to put on such a nice chassis. Come on! Single cam? 40 something REAL horsepower at the rear wheel, if that?!! What a disappoint. Should have gave it the Interceptor motor, man, that would be freakin' awesome.

Yep. Definitely not a moto for kids looking to kill themselves before they can legally drink. With more power and better brakes, it would have been in competition with the Hurricane. For a competent rider, this moto gets the job done just fine though.
@captainamerica93532 жыл бұрын
@@joshrandall3632 , with more power it might have lasted more than 4 years. Too expensive and too slow, I had one.
@joshrandall36322 жыл бұрын
@@captainamerica9353 I have one and can't disagree with that. Someone at Honda said the Hawk was the moto everyone needed, but not the moto everyone wanted. Mine has better suspension, brakes and power than the factory gave it and it's a real decent ride.
@captainamerica93532 жыл бұрын
@@joshrandall3632 , yeah, mine had a number of upgrades but I just couldn't wrap myself around it. BTW, there's a tank bra on eBay if you need one. The owner will negotiate on price!

Yeah, and the FSM instructions/specs are wrong. It must be off the centerstand, on both wheels with rear end loaded (w/rider) to determine slack.
@loosenoose5 жыл бұрын
you keep saying "original tires", like that's a good thing on a bike from the 80's
@gregp1035 жыл бұрын
It IS a good thing for an original bike kept in a museum. He never suggested riding on them or using an air filter that's home to a mouse. Use your brain, lynch.
