What do you mean by "master the language course "? b2 level? c1? c2? I mean to learn a language decently you need to know at least 15k words (like b2/c1 level). That makes 43 words a day if they wanted you to only get decent at a language in just 50 weeks ((36 + 64)/2 = 15000/(50x7)= ~43). And thats a lot by itself... But well, i think that if you want to master a language you need to also be familiar with its idioms, sayings, expresions and language games - not to mention syntax, grammar nuances etc. So i find it kinda hard to believe that someone who isnt omega giga chad genious with great memory is actually able to master a language in less than a year. I mean, ive been learning english for like 8 or 9 years already and I feel like I still have a long way to go before I can say yes: "I have mastered the language!" Anyway, Ive been learning German for about 10 months and I am not yet even close to mastering it. But truth be told german is a lot more complex than english. Sure, i can read simple books and listen to simple strories... But i dont think ill be able to speak fluently anytime soon (i would guess ill need another year or two).

@@krowaswieta7944 In order to reach the C1 level, you need to complete 1,200 active lessons. If you study 6 hours a day, then with a 5-day school week, you get 30 classroom sessions a week. Multiply 30 hours by 50 weeks (30x50=1,500) and you have 1,500 active classroom lessons. As you can see, the number of active lessons in the classroom already exceeds the number of lessons in the curriculum. Regarding vocabulary, the C1 level assumes knowing 4,500 words or more. You can easily understand 95% of general text knowing 3,000 words. Vocabulary of the average person 15000-40000 words. Let's take the figure you gave - 15000 words. For example, if you take the Oxford dictionary, there are 470 irregular verbs in English, but in reality people use only 120-150 of them. All in all, a person needs to know 150-200 verbs, on which other words will be "hinged": noun, adjective, pronoun, numerals, adverb. It is enough to start learning words from the list of the most used words. I don't think you will ever need words in English in communication such as: Aquiver, Bombinate, Denouement, Ethereal, Petrichor. But c1 one at least 8k according to all sources ive found (or maybe here, where i live, people are more demanding - who knows?). Anyway, im not a linguist so i cant tell what is the best method of learning a language (even though im pretty sure that the answer is always: "depends on a person"), but 'inteligence' is in fact related with 'repetition'. I mean, each next language is easier to learn than previous one. And this is also one of the reasons why im a little bit sceptical about mastering a language in jus a year. Sure, im learning german 1-2 hours a day myself and after 10 months i feel like im half way through (this video for instance is kinda hard if you ask me; i would say its more like c1+). But well, 6 hours of "active learning" over 3 days is apparently worth more than 6 hours in one day (so there is some kind of diminishing return involved; at least ive been told so). But as always - i might be totally mistaken about everything.

12 years of private tuition and reference book driven English learning, still you guys use terms like: do the needful, give exams, revert back to the Email, pass out from College, cousin-brother, etc. What hope do you have learning German?

They should be happy that they speak German at all. German managers does not need to speak Portuguese or Polish to sell cars in Portugal and Poland, but job seekers need to analyse Wittgenstein in order to get even supermarket jobs. Eh! Here in Switzerland, there are huge number of fresh arrival South Europeans who barely speak German, but can work efficiently.

Es bringt sowieso nichts einfach sich meistens an einfache Gespräche zu gewöhnen, denn was man in Wirklichkeit in der gesprochenen Sprache als nicht-Deutschsprachiger stellen muss, ist deutlich fernab anders als das hier angezeigt. In der Praxis wird Deutsch äußerst anders benutzt. Leute unterwegs sprechen einfach nicht wie die Frau in der Kassette oder wie Lehrer*innen in der Sprachschule.
