2 ай бұрынIn order to get trunks thick (for any tree, actually), let them grow to the fullest extent. I usually wait two to five years before the first major cutback. While you can make a tree look older than it actually is with styling, only time can age the trunk. Even small trees can take on the patina of age but only after they've been growing for a adequate amount of time.

Do you prefer to have the lichen on them? It’s cam be cleaned off with a toothbrush and soapy water. I see a PA bonsai grower in Mexico doing this to his trees every repot.

I don't mind the lichen, I think the patina adds to the look of age and I have never really seen trees losing vigor because of it so I tend to leave it alone.
