Hi Sir, my sapodilla just now fruiting. It has 2-3 fruit. Hopefully, they don’t drop. I’m very happy. I have posted on KZfaq to share happiness...woohoo!

I got a Silas Wood this year because it’s small. I’m hoping I can container grow it and keep it small enough for the lanai. Sapodilla is so delicious.

Very little actually. Once a year foliar spray with kelp and minerals. I also use plenty of compost and mulch. The area it's planted in was very rich from years of building the soil.

Hi Sir, your Silas Wood sapodilla tree is beautiful. May I ask? Do you have another sapodilla in your garden for pollination? Or does Silas Wood produce fruit itself? If so, do you hand pollinated it? Hope to hear from from you soon. Thanks

Most sapodilla trees are self fertile so no need for another tree.

Thank you so much Sir. I have an Alano variety, it’s a very big tree, it has lots of flowers but doesn’t produce fruit. So I just bought another Silas Wood in hoping they would pollinate each other. 🤔

Whst do you mean by “too many air layers on a tree”? Why would the tree care?

Because sugars are stopped from flowing to the roots at each branch. That could cause stress. Also what happens when you remove al the air layers? Heavy pruning. Pruning should be about 25% to 30% of a trees canopy.
