Euromaxx Reporter Axel Primavesi is the man you want for special assignments. In our series "Axel On The Edge" he reaches and then crosses his limits. In the first episode he travels to Norway to climb the highest wooden staircase in the world. It has a mere 4,444 steps and goes along the pipes of a disused hydroelectric power plant in the hamlet of Flørli up a 700 meter high mountain in the south of Norway.

So incredibly beautiful scenery you have there. Really jealous there isn't that kind of infrastructure in my country, that is both sustentable and not as polluting. Ms Jena turns out to be a character of her own too. Her calm but enthusiastic demeanor is pretty contagious. Greetings from México.

Nothing is harder on knees than a long, steep descent, whether on steps or rugged terrain. I injured my left knee years ago, and while I'm strong and uphill isn't a problem, getting back down is painful.

breath taking view at the top but the starcases omg i think if i was there i give up but the beauty here worth to climb my fear of height can be tested here maybe I try this if i have a chance to do it.

My son and I did it two years ago. It was so fun but also very hard 😅 unfortunately the weather was not great. It was foggy so we couldn’t see much when we finally came to the top. The hike down was a bit rough. We had to be very cautious because it was wet and slippery. But we would do it again. It was just an awesome day. Actually Norway is a beautiful country 😊

Count one step per second and you get 1:14 hours. And 4 seconds.

WHEN I WAS 16 GOING ON 17 I WAS GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY TO GO TO NORWAY FOR A HOLIDAY, I WAS NERVOUS OF THE HEIGHTS BUT ALSO I DIDN’T REALISE WHHAT AN AWESOME ADVENTURE I WOULD BE MISSING OUT ON, HOW FOOLISH WAS I! Pretty remarkable!! A difficult challenge for sure. I could not climb the Flørli staircase #Vertigo nor hike back down the mountain. #OhMyKnees Kudos to Jana & Axel. 👏🏼🏞 🪜 🧗
