Lyrics
Well I'm a honky tonk man
And I can't seem to stop
I love to give the girls a whirl
To the music of an old jukebox
But when my money's all gone,
I'm on the telephone singing
Hey hey mama can your daddy come home
Well now I'm living wild and dangerously
But I've got plenty of company
The moon comes up and the sun goes down
I can't wait to see the lights of town
'Cause I'm a honky tonk man
And I can't seem to stop
I love to give the girls a whirl
To the music of an old jukebox
And when my money's all gone,
I'm on the telephone singing
Hey hey mama can your daddy come home
Well I'm a honky tonk man
And I can't seem to stop
I love to give the girls a whirl
To the music of an old jukebox
And when my money's all gone,
I'm on the telephone singing
Hey hey mama can your daddy come home
Hey now, a pretty little girl and a jug of wine
Well that's what it takes to make a honky tonk time
With the jukebox moaning those honky tonk sounds
I can't wait to lay my money down
'Cause I'm a honky tonk man
And I can't seem to stop
I love to give the girls a whirl
To the music of an old jukebox
But when my money's all gone,
I'm on the telephone singing
Hey hey mama can your daddy come home
I'm a honky tonk man
And I can't seem to stop
I love to give the girls a whirl
To the music of an old jukebox
But when my money's all gone,
I'm on the telephone singing
Hey hey mama can your daddy come home

I met Dwight yoakum at don fox park in Lebanon TN and I was 12 13 he was so surprised that I knew who he was and what he did. Got to talking about sling blade and everything. He invited me my bro and uncle to a party, but my mom refused to let us go.... And that was the last day I told my mom anything

This record was suitably retro in 1986 when it came out. Modern country was too modern and this was perfect, still is. We saw Mr Dwight Yoakam back then at Massey Hall. We waited outside his bus after the show. He didn't come out but he sent out some signed pics and we were delighted.

Oh mister Dwight…how I love you. 💕. Funny, you’ve been simply a part of my life, since I was, 12? But it was not an overt obsession with you…let’s liken it to this: Someone goes on a trip to Las Vegas. another goes on a trip to Bakersfield. Thing is, overtly, it would appear the person who went to Vegas would have a better time, yea? Well not so fast…seems Bakersfield is visited by this person frequently…so incredible nostalgia forms. And you find yourself drawn back there, time and again. 💕. You ARE the Bakersfield trip. It carries more weight. SO DO YOU! You ARE AN incredibly talented musician and artist. I feel honored every time I sing your songs. They bring me joy, love, fun, lots of dancing, and singing as I learned, so many years ago from YOU. (Well, and the JUDDS). I’m trying to get TACHI PALACE to book me a few weekends…to cover your songs. People NEED nostalgia. And memories of being made to feel good. By you. I only hope, if they agree, that I could perform in a way that FULLY honors YOU! *grew up in Kerman/Fresno/Clovis, ca. Now in Slo county. Any who…you’ll likely never read this….but I wanted to put it here anyway…much love
